North Carolina hasn't required front plates since 1956 and we are fine without them. Ohio and Alaska recently removed the requirement. More states should follow their lead.

California is one of the plate issues two plates but only one plate gets stickers. I see you're in VA, which offers stickers for the front and back. If you go over to Maryland they issue two plates but only stickers for the back.

PA, NJ, and CT all went digital with their registration. TX, DC, and NY all put the registration on the windshield. The rest of the states do some form of a sticker on the plate.

California is one of the 6 states which the plate follows the car. However, vanity plates have the option of following the car on the owner depending on what you want to do.

How easy are these to steal? My plates occasionally get stolen and a front plate looks awful . Stuck on or otherwise. I'd rather pay the fix it ticket fine than put on a front plate.

It's pretty easy to steal a conventional plate; all you need is a screwdriver.

you can keep your plates, standard issue OR personal and can easily transfer them to any vehicle. getting replacement (standard issue) plates is fairly painless as well, as the local AAA has them in stock at all times - far better than the DMV which also stocks them. any personal plate takes months to issue.

as for the subject, i've seen these stickers but very rare. to me just run the plate or none at all! my is250 never came with a front plate (mount) and i never had an issue in the over 10 years of ownership between san diego and the OC, since the dealership never installed them. speaking of, most luxury brand dealerships will keep the front plates off and what i found this to be more apparent the further you are from the city. most downtown LA/glendale dealerships have front plated their cars! out in the OC, it's 40/60. in the IE, it's even less.

Two reasons not to live where you do. Go to a free state.
