FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Feb. 1, 2023 – Hyundai Motor America reported total January sales of 52,001 units, a 9% increase compared with January 2022 and the third consecutive month for record total sales. Hyundai set total sales records in January for Venue (+7%), Elantra HEV (+574%), IONIQ 5 (+57%), Santa Fe HEV (+191%), Palisade (+6%), Kona EV (+334%) and Kona N (+49%). January was an all-time best-ever retail and total sales month for the Elantra N. Hyundai fleet sales were 7.2% of total volume for the month.

“Achieving year-over-year growth in retail and total sales, as well as a record-breaking January, highlights the company's commitment to delivering a great product lineup,” said Randy Parker, CEO, Hyundai Motor America. “The positive feedback from our dealers during the 2023 NADA Show demonstrates Hyundai’s strong standing in the industry and the level of trust and confidence dealers have in the brand.”

January Retail Highlights
Hyundai sold 48,247 retail units in January a 1% year-over-year increase from January 2022 setting a retail sales record for the sixth consecutive month. January retail sales were led by Elantra N, Elantra HEV, IONIQ 5, Santa Fe HEV, Palisade, Kona EV and Kona N. Hyundai eco-friendly vehicle sales of 8,710 represented 18% of retail and a 17% year-over-year increase.

Mazda Reports January Sales Results
IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 1, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported total January sales of 22,967 vehicles, an increase of 9.0 percent compared to January 2022. With 24 selling days in January, compared to the same the year prior, the company posted an increase of 9.0 percent on a Daily Selling Rate (DSR) basis.

CPO sales totaled 4,605 vehicles in January, an increase of 48 percent compared to January 2022.
Sales Highlights
  • Best-ever January sales of CX-30 with 5,065 vehicles sold.
  • Best-ever January sales of CX-9 with 3,170 vehicles sold.
Mazda Canada, Inc., (MCI) reported January sales of 3,142 vehicles, a decrease of 10.0 percent compared to January last year.

Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) reported January sales of 6,591 vehicles, an increase of 89.7 percent compared to last year.

  • Best January ever for Crosstrek
Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) today reported 44,373 vehicle sales for January 2023, a 0.5 percent increase compared with January 2022 (44,158). January also marked the sixth consecutive month of month-over-month sales increases for the automaker.

“We’re looking forward to another exciting year of offering consumers the safest and most fun-to-drive vehicles on the market, including our all-new 2024 Crosstrek which makes its debut next week at the Chicago Auto Show,” said Thomas J. Doll, President and CEO, Subaru of America, Inc. “As anyone who owns a Subaru knows, the customer experience continues long after the sale is completed, and we’d like to thank our retailers for upholding the highest ownership experience standards as reflected in our industry leading net promoter score.”

In January, Crosstrek was the top performer by volume and achieved its best January ever with 12,706 vehicle sales, surpassing its previous record set in January 2021 (10,431). WRX sales for January 2023 increased 488 percent, while Outback sales decreased 1.1 percent compared to January 2022. In addition, 499 of the new Solterra EV were delivered in January.

January marked Kia’s sixth consecutive monthly sales record with four of Kia’s SUV and utility nameplates – Niro, Sportage, Telluride and Carnival – as well as the Forte compact sedan posting best-ever January totals. Sales of Kia’s electrified models increased 128-percent over the same period last year.

I thought Toyota reported quarterly now? So I don't think we'll see anything from them until after the end of Q1.

Lots of inventory on the NX from what I can see - maybe that's why they had a good month - the cars are actually available for purchase.

MAHWAH, NJ (February 2, 2023) – Volvo Car USA today reported sales of 7,693 cars in January, up 8.2 percent compared with the same month last year, with sales of fully electric cars growing 80.1 percent.

The share of Recharge models -- those with pure electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains – sold in the U.S. continued to climb, reaching 30.8 percent during the month, a 1.8 percent increase over December 2022.

As a whole the Americas Region sold 10,130 cars in January, a 15 percent increase over the same period last year, with Recharge models accounting for 40 percent of overall sales.

The Canadian market saw the region’s largest year over year increase of Recharge sales -- 107.6 percent -- with Latin America and the U.S. showing 92.3 and 24.2 percent increases, respectively.

Fully electric cars accounted for 12.9 percent of sales across the region.

“Volvo is running full steam ahead toward being fully electric by 2030,” said Anders Gustafsson, Senior Vice President and President and CEO, Volvo Car USA. “We are energized as more and more people choose to buy, lease and subscribe to Volvo cars.
