What's the Fastest You've Been?

curious you chose to reply to my post when my top speed quoted is among the slowest quoted in this thread, when others tried much higher speed at more prolonged periods, some in luxury sedans …… I did that when the highway was pretty empty when the sun just rose, and the car felt VERY stable and I could have gone MUCH faster easily had I not consider it’s not the Autobahn and the speeding laws in our province is very strict …

The high end long wheelbase sedans are designed for and quite good at this actually, I also find it kinda interesting to see the difference in mentally from those who have vs not.
I'm also surprised how many here have done their runs on interstates/multi lane areas. I would have though more would only do backroads like I do lol! Far less people around out in the middle of nowhere....

I agree......it applies to anyone at that speed or greater. I wasn't just picking your post out of thin air...I simply did not have time to read every post in the tread.

This was along I-40 through New Mexico at 2-5am. No traffic.

also how are you defining backroad? in the northeast at least a backroad tends to be narrow and dark with many blind spots and hill crests, i feel the far most comfortable doing pulls on a wide open interstate where all is visible and there's far more room to maneuver

I’ve been around 155-160mph in my Plaid. Because it gets to that speed so fast it feels safer than going that fast in a slower car because it takes longer to get there if that makes sense. Easy to find open highway on Rt. 50 by me depending on the time. It’s four lanes and pretty darn straight for a while.

We just don't have straight, flat backroads, and the big concern I have there is deer, and people pulling out of side roads and things like that you can't anticipate. Doing this on ANY public road is unsafe, but at least an access controlled highway there is more control over what you are likely to find.
When I did it there was great visibility for several miles since the road was going down a hill and up the other side, there were no exits, and no other cars around. The car was back down to 80 by the time there was any possibility that I was going to interact with any other vehicle.
Here's an example of the kind of area I'm talking about along the same road I was 80-150 and back to 80 before I would have been to that bend:
