What's the Fastest You've Been?

We just don't have straight, flat backroads, and the big concern I have there is deer, and people pulling out of side roads and things like that you can't anticipate. Doing this on ANY public road is unsafe, but at least an access controlled highway there is more control over what you are likely to find.
When I did it there was great visibility for several miles since the road was going down a hill and up the other side, there were no exits, and no other cars around. The car was back down to 80 by the time there was any possibility that I was going to interact with any other vehicle.
Here's an example of the kind of area I'm talking about along the same road I was 80-150 and back to 80 before I would have been to that bend:

I’ve been around 155-160mph in my Plaid. Because it gets to that speed so fast it feels safer than going that fast in a slower car because it takes longer to get there if that makes sense. Easy to find open highway on Rt. 50 by me depending on the time. It’s four lanes and pretty darn straight for a while.

EDIT- I looked at the data on the picture, that's near Lewisburg, WV, so right past Alta, about 30 miles past Sandstone mountain
As for headlights, issue is you overdrive your headlights. They aren't designed for those speeds in US spec.

Thermal on the Audi and I also have NVGs that I wear if I'm nervous about deer. Gen3 tubes make it just like daylight.....
Plus a lot of cars can't defeat DRLs and I have no idea why anyone would be driving lights off out there.

i see people driving at night with no lights and no DRLs way more often than I would expect...saw one the other night on my way to the Pocanos. No clue how they could see.

parachute in back? in case you have a brake failure

You check it beforehand.....you are more likely to have failure on common cars since the lines are not as well protected/coated and the calipers are not as reliable as fixed units. It's really not a big deal since it's just one braking event that isn't even that intense, the air acts a brake for you at these speeds to an extent

You don't want to be going to Lewisburg for the wrong reasons...........(just kidding).
Truckers like to use 81 to avoid 95 with its tolls and notorious traffic-jams....81 may get a little crowded sometimes, but I'd be surprised if it is anything like 95, especially 95 between D.C. and Fredericksburg.
81 is long and flat but its way too crowded, same with 95.

141 in my 07 Acura TL a couple years back, at around midnight. No clue how I didn't get pulled over (and, subsequently, a night in jail) since the road I pulled this stunt on is usually heavily patrolled.

When I was young there were plenty of perfect roads in Lancaster you could blast around on in the middle of a Sunday afternoon with impunity, but (probably fortunately) none of us could afford anything fast enough to get in real trouble.
My other speed memory was an evening drive on I-40 towards Flagstaff in a rental Chrysler 200. I'd never driven in a place that was so endlessly straight with no cars, but there was also a constant uphill grade. We were late and I was driving for miles with the pedal against the floor.... to try to keep it in the 90's.
