It’s all in the way it’s packaged. No L or LE or XSE…it’s gonna start at almost $51K There is 100% a market for both. Regular HL is a world vehicle…this is a USA only design.
Toyota will dominate. They have a solution at every price point. And this will also take sales from the 3 row 4Runner limited. Land Cruiser Prado is coming to the USA as well

The 2.4l turbo "hybrid" is the same as the rx500h - 6AT + rear e-axle + 2.4l turbo. Not impressive in the city, about what you'd expect on the highway. Not sure why they dropped the 2GR-FXE option everywhere - the "estimates" match it with the 2.4l in highway, don't see how it'll be better in the real world. The CVT hybrid in this will be the 2.5l NA - same as the Sienna.

Once this comes out it would be a good time for Toyota to allow for a 3rd row delete on the standard Highlander. This would fill the gap for those who only need 2 rows but want/need something bigger than a RAV-4, but not wanting a BOF vehicle like a 4Runner.

If it's custom for us then there is no need for the normal highlander, looking at the overall length I would never pick the normal one. 5 inches doesn't change the car much at all in this class of vehicle, there is less difference there than I have between some of my cars

. Really? Isn't this the identical vehicle to the GX? And the GX and 4Runner are eerily similar in many ways. Why would they do this? So it would basically be a 4Runner with a rear door that swings open?

you'd think a slightly bigger vehicle with almost 100 hp more (365HP) would be a lot quicker.
and i'll take actual gears over another wheezy cvt.

The only engine with the CVT is the 2.5L hybrid - the other two engine options have 8/6 speed transmissions.

I must be hopelessly out of touch I find the styling of this behemoth offensive. It is form over function to the extreme the giant grille and jacked up hood line are there because.....I don't know. What is this look supposed to convey?

my hyundai santa fe has 2.5T no hybrid battery with 277HP and it does 0-60 in 6.2 seconds according to motortrend. it's certainly a lively vehice esp. in sport mode.
