Wow. That looks great inside and out, a little busy for my taste styling wise but great gross dimensions and overall shape. I would love this if it offered something like the Jeep 5.7/6.4 or the new I-6

Looks great.

Toyota is so far ahead of Hyundai with this

this will be a very popular SUV for Toyota

The MaxHybrid at 365 HP competes with those high powered vehicles. My guess is that one will feel great.

Pricing will really be crucial. My guess is that model Platinum with that powertrain is going to be $65k, meaning it will be $13k or so more than a Telluride or Palisade, but with more power. The 2.5L will be priced closer to $60k loaded but you’ll have a turbo 4 vs the V6

Looks good - seems to have pretty good space in the 2nd and 3rd rows. If only they could stuff the turbo V6 from the Tundra/Sequoia into the TX...

Yeah it’s a shame. Hopefully those electric motors will help that 4cyl feel good.

Toyota claims 6.2 sec 0-60 for the top powertrain, not bad for what they are using actually. I wonder how the hybrid system will feel with a turbo 4, I generally don't really like 4s but the other factors may make it tolerable.

Likely DOA for me as a main SUV but perhaps not depending on other aspects as a work truck. The size of this one is right in line with what I like/find useful and I would rather have this than a maverick.

Probably can’t tune it.

Finally a proper 3 row. I remember when we were reviewing the 2014 Highlander, we told engineering it was too small relative to where the segment was heading even then. But Toyota's reputation for quality and reliability was still far ahead of many competitors and helped propel it to success.

When 2020 came out I was stunned they erred on the small side of the segment direction again,

Really glad to see this size and powertrain come to life. Wonder what the mix will end up being between the unGrand and the Grand. Could easily see the Grand making the unGrand obsolete, unless there's a huge price premium for it.

I don’t think the regular Highlander will lose any sales.

I think it absolutely will. I don't see a world in which the Highlander will continue unscathed with this alongside it. Again, depends on how much of a premium Toyota is looking to slap on the Grand. But I could easily see this overtaking regular Highlander. Not to the extent that 4 door Wrangler decimated 2-door sales.

As the saying goes..

Ah, yes.....the faddish Cement and Bluish-Cement paint-colors.

I suspect that the Grand Highlander will take a chunk out of Sequoia sales....and probably deserve to.
