Very common failure. It takes 10+ years though.

Ive never done that, and never needed to. The controls on the door are designed to be exposed to rain when the door is open.

Yes, I know that a few vehicles offer two-tones on some versions, but it is mainly on a few small crossovers or on mega-luxury-products. Most vehicles in-between still don't give you that option. And, when the two-tone IS offered, it is often a simple white or black roof.

check out pics in lc500 forum, there's a new yellow one, orange, green, blue, red, and those 'boring' colors.
Wake me up when those hues are available on Camrys and Accords.

I've seen vehicles where they started to show signs of wear (or loosening up) within just a few years....particularly with the rear hatchback.

How about those T Tops.

I had a Camaro Berlinetta with V-8 and T Tops.

Oh Yeah!

Did you have trouble with the T-Top? One reason they were discontinued is that they compromised the roof-integrity of the vehicle too much, which could lead to leaks and squeaks/rattles, particularly in those days, before the frames had the rigidity they do today.

my lc500 has frameless windows. i am not concerned.
one thing modern cars with frameless windows do is crack them about a 1/4 inch when you attempt to open the door. i think that avoids the jamming.

well unless one is in a hurry and that's a waste of time.

yes they sucked. i think the subaru legacy wagon i had way back (my ex to be specific) had those. it wasn't really a bother though.

Dozens of times to the point I have a dedicated block for wood for it, still not really an issue unless you are so cheap that $20 worth of strut is too much for you.

In Los Angeles, circa 1987, there was this kid who brought his mom's Maxima to school with automatic seatbelts and a talking voice. An invite-only demo was made after school, and COOLNESS was achieve. Yes, great memories and my claim to fame.

I miss floor button dimmer switches. What I miss most is the ability to order a car with the features and options I want without having to order them in packages. Very often, most often, if I want a certain exterior color I also have to take the inferior color they choose. Same with other features, interiors, wheels, transmissions, stereos, just about everything. If I want one thing I have to also take, and pay for, a half dozen other things. I’m sure their way smooths their assembly process which saves them money but….

I miss when cars actually had real windows, trucks were bought only for hauling/towing things, when you had good old fashioned buttons instead of the pissing contest that has become trying to place the biggest, newest screen on top of the dash, and another one that doesn't get talked about much: covered cupholders. When I'm driving, I don't want to see two big gaping holes in the middle of my car. It looks very cheap and unsightly.

Buy a higher end car? That's something that only high spec cars usually bother with....

The reason floor-dimmers went away is that the small round push-switch could be difficult to find with one's left toes, particularly if the switch got hidden under a thick floor mat. The later hand-stalk is right there, at your fingertips, open, exposed, and not covered up by anything.

I had a 93 300ZXTT with T-tops and thought it was awesome until I got my 94 SupraTT with a targa top. I still love targa tops above all else.

I had an 85 200SX turbo and it had a talking voice. I thought it was the coolest thing back then and so futuristic. I even installed an alarm that talked too. It was all cool at first and then just became annoying. Glad they did away with it.
