Tolerates? Last year, there was a bill proposed to allow for self-serve (alongside full serve), and it never made it out of committee. And NJ residents like full serve.

Its the law, no option.
They have tried to pass bills that repeal it numerous times and it never goes anywhere. Polls show NJ residents want the law to stay in place.

The Oregon law is largely still in place. They revised it a bit during COVID, but it's still in place. With that said, they are looking into repealing it in the future.

That makes total sense to me. My wife is from NJ, and I had to teach her how to pump gas. Now she too finds it annoying that she can't pump it herself when we visit her family in NJ. Its just all they have ever known...

Sounds like B.S. to me. Why would people in the other 49 states have no problem filling up themselves, and NJ residents be an exception? That's like saying that people in other states can pull their own pants on in the morning, but NJ people can't.

Because its what they are used to. NJ folks also like NJ the way it is, they like it being different than everybody else. Of course they CAN pump their own gas, just a majority of them don't want to. 73% of those polled say they prefer to have their gas pumped for them. 53% are in favor of allowing the option to pump your own gas, but only if stations were required to keep staff for a full service option. Only 37% of people are in favor of repealing the law if it means everyone would have to pump their own gas.
