I don't want to speculate but one thing I do know is that I've often seen people with trucks, especially 4WD trucks, feel overly confident in bad weather.
Here's a good one from today. Freeway onramp, has a whole acceleration lane ahead of her, stopped dead at the end of the blind onramp, and merges straight out into traffic instead of using the acceleration lane to match the speed of the flow of traffic.
People like this should not be allowed to drive...of course after this she settled into a speed of about 45 MPH...in the left lane.
Dang that's one crazy driver there. Maybe she just doesn't know what's right to do. "Do I need to stop and yield?" I always keep a good distance to the one in front when I enter ramp.
I'm always interested in this situation and wonder what the rule is. Which spot is the right spot to be in to turn left? 1 or 2?

My aunt lives right b/t Montrose and Falls; it was not her tho.....
Well....small world. I used to work just a few blocks from there (Executive Blvd, right off Montrose), before our office was transferred to Silver Spring. I checked out a lot of new vehicles at those local Rockville/Gaithersburg dealerships.

Small world! My office is right there off of Montrose Rd
Notice position 2 is right level with the street to turn into. Usually you would stop about a car length before the crossing street to turn, right? In this case, if you pull into 2 and turn, you may end up going over the curb in front of you.
Ah, so that's why you use EuroMotorcars........Big-Money Neighborhood, Big-Money Dealership.
To be fair there is a Euro Motorcars in Germantown too lol. Yeah the Bethesda one is down the street from my office.

The rule of thumb is you never get on the wrong side of an area where a car may be coming the other way. Position 1 is for a car that would be doing the same thing from the opposite lane
