If they are anything like industrial screens they're pretty tough.
Unless an employee gets mad and staps the screen with a screw driver.

Had an HMI(Human Machine Interface) come in for repair and they boxed it with the screwdriver stabbed in the screen and I laughed so hard.
It was like they didn't pull it out in case it started bleeding or something. funny!

I would be more worried about the computing hardware powering all of these processing functions over the long term rather than the screens themselves.
Very true.
An obsolesence of the screens happens every few years unless they buy a large hoard or or have to do major hardware revisions every few years aka every new model which is what we see. lol

Zzzzz.. smells like cost cutting to me. Design is overly simplified and the door panels/door cards have no thought put into them either.. looks straight snatched out of the 206 C Class. What a shame!

I think a lot of that may be the demographic of the EQS and how the dash really doesn't look good without it...I'm interested to see the take rate on a legacy ICE car like the E Class.

Looks fine to me. But how practical is it? I assume it's for the passenger. Even so at this angle, it's hard to enjoy a movie. One would have to sit up/lean forward to see. Probably better with your phone/iPad in a reclined position.

The screen in front of the passenger is for them, when its on the driver can't even see it.

My wife would love to sit back and watch a movie with headphones on a long trip. On the EQS theres no issue watching that screen.

I actually do zoom calls from the car all the time. I have a weighted mount I sit up on the dash. In our business everyone is running around all the time, when we have big meetings 30% or so of the people are in their cars. No different really than a phone call, you're not looking at the screen your video is just on so people can see you.

The MB Camera can only be used when in park, but my guess is that can be coded away.

Most buttons are on control boards and aren't mechanical, haven't been since the 90s really.....you can have one board fail and it will cause a CANbus failure you need to track down.

I doubt the screen themselves will have much issue, I'm typing this from an iPhone 6 that works just fine. Problem I could see with this is idiot/careless owners breaking it

I like how it looks but think the shiny plastic will begin to show too many fingerprints in no time. The Tron-like ambient lighting strips on the other hand, I think will age as well as milk. I thought it was cool when I got it on my 2018 5 series, now 6 years later, it seems dated to me.

Resolution has been fine for awhile now. OLEDs haven't really solved the burn problem even with the latest panels, so we'll have to see how it'll do in a car. Fine if the screen is easily replaceable at a sane price, I guess.

Really not a fan of touch-only AC/seat/whatever controls.

I prefer having an actual feel to each car. Before the inputs of the the controls felt distinctly on brand/interesting but now everything is like touching a phone. Cheap and uniform across the board from a 20k econobox to an 130k i7

i've come to really dislike touch screens in cars. i do NOT find them convenient while driving, AT ALL.
however, i can use voice, and on my LC, the touchpad falls easier to hand than reaching a touch screen, even if it's rather clumsy. the rotary controller i had on the genesis g90 was wonderful.

back to the full width hyperscreen though... there's no 'killer app' yet for all that display real estate. that's my issue with it. 99.9% of the time it will still just be gauges and a map and/or audio source (plus climate).
