Yeah, I can see why people turn that off in their cars.
Other than that, MB just has the style and looks IMO, the new interior just oozes class just like they always done.

Per the German car forums and mbpassion, the i6s are still in line for the E Class, and E53 will be the range topper with m256+phev...

E63 might be back on the table, but unconfirmed for now since it was planned to die with the 213.. if it happens it'll probably be a 2-year later launch unlike the 213 where it launched in the same year. Prototypes haven't even been constructed for it, hence why no spyshots.

The average iPhone user spends 40 hours a week on their phones, if we don't have common burn in with 40 hour a week usage, then its not a common issue. I bet the average vehicle display doesn't operate for 40 hours a week.
6 hours a day?! I literally could not imagine staring at a tiny little screen for that long every single day.

I've come to the conclusion that you and I are polar opposites in every way. The only commonality we hare is we're both male and live in the United States.

Functionally, this is just three screens across the dash, with the hyperscreen providing nothing more than an extra screen for the passenger. Feels like such a weird waste of money designing all of that for something so minor.

Personally I'm more interested in what's under the hood, especially the fate of the six cylinder following the C-Class.
Its not woodgrain, its a geometric design or paino black. Its an option one way or the other, same as in all the new Mercedes models.

i have a samsung watch and i don't have the display on (unless i touch it or press a button). besides screen preservation it saves hugely on battery life too.
I have been wearing Apple Watches for many years and have also never heard of such a thing, my last Apple watch I had for 3 years, I just replaced it with a series 8, always display on maximum brightness, its always on, I can't stand not being able to glance at a watch and see the time, and zero burn in nor do I know anybody who has an apple watch that has ever had burn in. My wife's apple watch is a 4 year old series 4 and she has no burn in whatsoever.

Thats the national average, look it up. I'm not talking about my usage. Its not me you are polar opposite from, is the average American.

https://www.notebookcheck.net/The-av....562797.0.html

A new study published by gaming company SolitaireD this month states that, on average, most iPhone users spend 39 hours and 54 minutes on their phones every week, roughly the equivalent of a workweek (spread over seven days).
But, I work from my iPhone. I answer emails on it all day, reply to texts on it all day, use applications all day for work. Its like my computer. People sit in front of a work computer for 8 hours a day every day. Its not necessarily choice, its work.

At the end of the day, you need to stop commenting in shock at people's use and enjoyment of tech when its off topic. This is a discussion about the new E Class interior, not yet another venue for you to rant on and on about your tech aversion when it comes to phone use. My comment about the amount of time people spend on an iPhone is to demonstrate the screen's resistance to burn in...not their "addiction to tech".

nice, how's the battery life with max always on?

i wasn't trying to imply burn in is a big issue as i definitely don't think it is!

I can't stand not being able to glance at a watch and see the time
lol, yeah it's a real hardship for me to touch the display to see the time.

if i switch to an iphone i'll probably get an apple watch at some point.

back to the mercedes interior... the hyperscreen just seems to be such a 'show off' feature. i'm in and love tech, but that's not for me at this time, and i'm a guy who has computers connected to multiple large screens for work, but there's utility in it.

i'm finding my LC500 interior to be a refreshing more minimalist break these days! but i still have AA/AC to be connected.

No problems with battery life at all, it lasts all day and then some. The new ones have an always on display so it dims when you aren't looking at it but you can still see the time and some of the notifications.

Its not a hardship, its just annoying. I'm used to being able to just look down at my wrist and see the time from wearing real watches. Thats why I switched to the series 5 when it came out, I much prefer the Apple watch now that I can just look down at my wrist and always see the time.

Yeah I don't disagree at all...

Even the previous gen was questionable where the gauge cluster and infotainment screen were attached to each other to form a huge tablet.
Agree 100%. Modern Mercedes interiors look like a cheap amusement park attraction or 3rd class casino decoration. They no longer look classy and elegant. It looks like they cater mostly to rich NBA players or rappers, rather than traditional Merc buyers (successful business professional, doctors, etc.).

I don't agree with that. Times are changing and design has to change with the times. Mercedes has incredibly high quality (for the most part), conservatively styled interiors. They use excellent materials with interesting textures with lots of options for different trims where the same interior can feel very different in different configurations. By and large, best in the business IMO

The GLS/GLE is the best of the bunch I believe. Love the wood wheel and dash. If I had to get one, it'd definitely be that.

The one issue I have with MB displays is they are not designed with driver in mind. I prefer designs that are angled towards the driver. I see Lexus does this on some of their new vehicles too. Compare apple to apple, I think all your posted interiors look nice and may be best in class except GLE/GLS. They look OK and fine from rear passenger's view but not driver's. I prefer X5/X7. On top of it, the gear shifter just kills it all. Lol. But again it's my opinion.

Depends on the model. The C Class and SL tilt the center screen towards the driver.

I actually have grown to like the MB shifter.

The materials on new Sclass are noticeably cheaper than the previous gen.
Wood, plastics, and etc are all just cheap to the touch for a flagship sedan. The W222 dash design was also more sophisticated and required more craftsmanship. The new one has was too much black plastic and the steering wheel would not feel out of place in $25k Kia.

I will say the infotainment screen is a huge improvement in terms of graphics, layout and ease of use. I also like the 3D gauge cluster but not the ipad design of it.

Previous gen Sclass for reference.

Seeing that I drive a previous gen S Class I don’t need a reference but thanks.

There is some truth to the reduction in materials in some places, but it’s not a massive difference. The big thing is the basic leather on the W223 is really crummy, and almost all S500s have that, and most of them out there now are S500s. If you sit in a W223 with the Napa (standard on S580) or exclusive Napa the interior is still very nice and very close to the W222. Biggest thing I found was the hard plastic around the base of the carpeting where on my car that’s all carpeting.

There is one wood trim that feels very cheap, but the rest of the trims are the same and the one matte wood with the hammered metal lines in it ($3,500 option) is way nicer than any trim that was ever available on the W222. This is the trim I’m talking about:

Agreed, it is just dripping with elegance/class.

Round vents look terrible. I like the gauge cluster
