Seeing that I drive a previous gen S Class I don’t need a reference but thanks.
There is some truth to the reduction in materials in some places, but it’s not a massive difference. The big thing is the basic leather on the W223 is really crummy, and almost all S500s have that, and most of them out there now are S500s. If you sit in a W223 with the Napa (standard on S580) or exclusive Napa the interior is still very nice and very close to the W222. Biggest thing I found was the hard plastic around the base of the carpeting where on my car that’s all carpeting.
There is one wood trim that feels very cheap, but the rest of the trims are the same and the one matte wood with the hammered metal lines in it ($3,500 option) is way nicer than any trim that was ever available on the W222. This is the trim I’m talking about:

Ive spent quite a bit of time in the new one and I have the old one, it’s not an objectionable difference IMO

I like the retro feel of the round vents in the right design

As good as it looks, it does not function as well as Lexus bamboo. It does get hot and cold more. The inner part also does not have a smooth finish/texture as the outside.

Now if they can find a way to not have 500,000 buttons on the wheel...

Isn't the navigation screen(s) in these too low since the trend lately has been to make them higher on the dash?
Does that not distract from driving while looking at the lower screens?
