For all you highway speeders....
......especially rob and chris.
100 Days of Heat
Police now have motorcycles for easier access and speed enforcement in tight work zones.
Beginning Memorial Day weekend, Illinois State Police District 15 will turn up the "heat" with special enforcement details for 100 days ending with the Labor Day Holiday weekend. Called “100 Days of Heat,” the effort is a comprehensive traffic safety program during the busy summer construction and travel months. The effort includes the ongoing Operation Hard Hat details to catch speeders in work zones. That’s where police pose as construction workers with radar equipment. Systemwide efforts are also in force to ticket speeders, DUIs and overweight trucks using unmarked police cruisers, aircraft, portable weigh stations and officers on motorcycles, a first for the Illinois Tollway. And, don't forget the photo speed enforcement vans coming soon. So, the "heat" will be on this summer!
got this off IDOT website....it's going to be an interesting summer boys!!

Jokingly: No problem. Will just have to take speeding to the local streets, preferably the residential areas.
Seriously: IDOT and state police are looking for additional packet (budget) money. Instead of trying to improve the flow of traffic, decrease drivers' stress, and go after the slow movers in the passing lane they choose to decrease the flow, increase stress, and probably cause more accidents. First we all know what happens to traffic when drivers see the blue/red lights. Second of all, drivers' stress is the main cause of accidents.

I don't really speed these days much. Pretty much just go with the flow of trafic. The US and state governments are going too far in recent years.

Catching speeders, and racking fines, using low cost tactics (Cars, Vans, Cops) brings in money.
If you were in charge, what would you do, spend or recieve?

If you're minding your business doing 70mph on an empty highway, it should not be a ticket.
Like it was stated above. Those retards that ALWAYS camp out in the left lane are the ones that cause problems b/c everyone is doing evasive maneuvers to get around them.

I wasn't supporting the cops or saying that its a good thing, I'm saying that its the way things are.
Its all about money...that's it!!!
The more money you bring in, the more crap the cops can get. Raises, Cop-cars, Radar guns.
Lake Zurich, IL was the DUI capital a few years back....They'd DUI a guy for a beer. Hell I got a seat-belt ticket a few years back, and that was the only reason why he pulled me over. Now they are one of the highest paid cop salaries in the state.
Safety is on the bottom of the list!!! Revenue is number one!!!
The ticket quota is not BS, like some cops will try and make you believe. I live in Algonquin and you can always tell the end of the month, they pull people over left and right!
Come first of the month, there all at the gas station BSing with one another.

neuro4you@,
Keep in mind Illinois has the tollway system, not the highway system. It was created long, long time ago to help pay for highways. It was promised to go away after IDOT catches up in money they spent. They did so about 15 years ago. Now they are making so much money, they are paying the lobbyists to make sure that it says this way. By the way State Police budget comes from IDOT. They don't really need more money, but of course nice 6 digit bonuses are welcomed by all IDOT higher ups. After all they are "hard" working individuals. Also, if I remember correctly IDOT is still getting State founding.
