Default First ding's on hood, need repair shop...

I should have had a clear bra put on. I have two dings, one went right to the metal.

Now I have the choice of either painting the hood or having the body shop touch it up. I'll probably just touch it up, can't afford to get the hood repainted

Can anybody recommend a body shop & clear bra person in the NW suburbs? I left a message for Rick (and told him Rob referred me)

So assuming he calls me back all I need is a body shop to fix that ding. I'll post a photo in a little while.

Dave,
How much do you want to spend? The Last Detail in North Chicago does wonders, but they will be very expensive. Their showroom is to die for.

hi Vik,

I can't afford too much (not working right now) so I'm kind of tempted to just have the body shop touch it up and then clear bra over it.

I'll worry about doing it right when I start working again.

There is a shop near my house. They quoted $150 or so to touch up the dent and their film guy quoted $450 to clear bra the hood, fenders and mirrors. The bumper is extra. I'm going to wait to see if Rick contacts me (I'd rather use a recommended person).

I'll post before and afters...

Dave....give Carnica a call. They do paint touch up work for a lot of dealers around the area. Also, I have a name of a guy that does paint protection plastic. He has contracts with a lot of high end dealers around the area.

I'll look for his card tonight.

Thanks! Please PM me the info as soon as possible and I'll contact him. BTW, I spoke to Rick, he was super helpful. He explained that the 3m film comes in 48" rolls, so there is going to be a seam. He also explained that the 3m comes w/ a clear coat, the others don't....

Whew...

I had my 3M done at the lexus dealership. I could give you a number to a body shop my whole family uses if you really need somebody.

The name is Wheel-Inn located on Milwaukee Avenue right near Palwaukee Airport.

PM if you need some real information

I've had a clear bra done by Rick from Body Skins, might I say, it was a great job. He did it very professionally and was completely prepared. He came to Chicago from Elgin in around October or so, he had his own butane heater and everything. Finished it fairly quickly and it still looks great after the winter time. I'd definitely recommend him, he used to do window tints, so he's been in the business for a while now.

I took my car to Central Auto Body in Roselle. Scott took great care of me. I paid $130 and the fixed the big ding (that went down to the metal) as well as 3 other dings. Really great job. I'll post photos later.
