My friends mother just received a ticket via the camera vans for doing 12 over in a 45 mph zone on I-88. She appeared in a make-shift courtroom at a Downers Grove VFW hall among 200 other pissed people. The judge apologized that our nice governor had raised court fines three times last year in order to generate revenue. Her fine was a total of $850. It was about $250 in court costs. She did get supervision, but if you are caught twice in a construction zone speeding, you are screwed. I just want to give everyone the heads up. I have seen these vans and often times, they are hiding and look like construction equipment. Be careful!!!

I work in a road construction zone and I'll tell you it's not a pleasent feeling to have a car fly by 2 feet away from you going 60 MPH. That 45 MPH speed limit is there for a reason.

I feel you on that.. my friend got hit by a small truck going by roughyl even 50 in a 40 construction zone. Was hospitalized for it (he was holding the SLOW 'down' sign) for quite some time...

I try to do the speed limit whenever I see people working. However, when no one is out I push it a little.

I should have stated that I am all for the safety of workers and other people. I typically do the speed limit in Construction Zones, but it is often hard to do just 45 mph without getting ran off the road my large Marge.

i take 294 daily and driving 45 is imposible traffic wont let you every one is going atleast 55 and trucks fly by at 70

There aren't cameras on 90/94 or 294 yet. They are only on I-55, I-88 and some other southern highways. The ones you see on 90/94 and 294 are only used to predict traffic times, not catch speeders FYI. But there has been a dramatic increase in pigs patroling the highways to make up for it so be careful. Just wait until Rod installs the cameras. It's going to be madness!!!!
