....I think my next move is to focus on the alternative energy FUNDS (and not individual stocks in specific companies), and start speculating on currency.

I've done fairly well with the Euro through the summer (against the USD), I've all done REALLY well with the Canadian dollar and the Indian Rupee against British Pound and the USD. I've pulled back on buying Euro about two weeks ago which is ended up being pretty ideal (the Euro has been losing against the dollor since then)...there was no timing or insight on my part, just dumb luck.

As for banking heavy on the Canadian dollor and the Rupee, I'd like to think I've done my research.

Not sure if anyone here trades currency, for those that do here's my take:

With the expectation of a $1 Trillion dollar gov't/taxpayer bailout, I'd trade out of the USD soon. There's only place the gov't can get $1 Trillion (since I doubt any other gov't is going to invest into the American economy) is from the Treasurey. The Treasurey will make a short to mid-term loan to the gov't by printing more dollars.

This will devalue the dollar. If the loan goes through, I'd expect devaluation to last for at minimum of 1 year.

Now's the time to start buying up Euro and Rubles.

So what are everyone's thoughts after yesterday's bailout scenario?

Totally agree. I've called my investement banker a million times and he said..don't bail. If you bail, you have definately lost your money. This is his profession. I believe him. I've lost 10g's myself. I think this is just a political move and once the election is over, there will be some positive changes.

Well... the bottom is the right place to buy. So far it seems to keep falling without a bottom in sight. Another terrible day.

we havent seen rock bottom yet. there are going to be LOTS of changes to some pretty big financial companies. Just pay close attn as this is got another 2 ~ 3 years left. You will see a BIG local bank for us exiting a big portion of the financial world little by little, or as quietly as they can, with a final departure around the end of the year. I know 15+ people that are going to be out of a job! Some my wife trained for there jobs years ago and others are good friends.

Seems like a practice we all may be doing soon. Anyone check their 401k's lately?

Visited my investment banker....he said to hold tight. Other investors say the same thing. After thinking about hold tight while you get it up the bunghole or hold tight and you'll get your money back. !?!?!?!?!
