My parents are tired of "German Engineering", they feel like they been lied to lol
Their 2003 Volvo S60 (~45k miles) spent about two weeks in November at the dealership, total cost ~$1500. Its going back to the dealership again this Tuesday, and this time it sounds like the power steering is out. My dads 2005 A6 goes to the dealership at least 10 times a year, mostly for electrical problems.
So yeah, my parents are looking at a new Acura/Lexus by end of summer this year. I think they will end up getting a AWD-GS/RX (i hope not the RX) because they know how much fun I had when I had to drive an hour away to just to service my TSX.

I will disagree with the German cars. My cars have been trouble free. a few BMW's and 1 Audi. The drive is from another world. There is nothing that compares to it here. I personally want to go back to it but will wait for this market to turn for the better. My place is falling apart fast...will be the 3rd place in the past 3 years
I actually kind of wish I had looked at an LS for the daily cruiser and got a toy. I think I would like to do this in the next 2 years. I like the LS but its just a big car and not sure I can get used to it. Mikey wants a toy in the garage again

^^ both of you are right. I think BMW's are more reliable then any other German manufacturers, but their image is tainted by Mercedes, Audi...etc. All the people that I know with a European car, Mercedes and Audi's probably had the worst reliability...BMW's weren't perfect, but had less trouble then the other two.
And yes, Toyota isn't the Toyota of the 90's, but I think they do better in the charts in reliability rankings (the one with # of problems per 1000 cars, i dont know if its JD power or Consumer reports) then the Germans.
