thanks bro! I agree, 35% all around looks great. I've got 20% on my rear window, and 35% up the sides. I hope they don't get too **** with this new law and go to the rear window w/ the tint meters!!

^ That's what I am afraid of, each city / village making up their own rules and cop's not giving a ***** about the 'new law'

City of Chicago alderman voted to increase tinted window tickets from $25.00 to $250.00 effective Jan 1st, 2009. They are trying everything they can to generate more $$, I really cant see how they can seperate themselves from the state law!

I am going to court NOV 24th, and I'll find out then what the deal is....

Don't know if you saw this on cartype but it may help:

UPDATE: 7-28-9. Andrea at the Illinois Capitol Office answers a very good question from one of our readers.

Question: I emailed my alderman's office, and they said that even if Illinois passes a law allowing tint, the Chicago Municipal Code will supercede that law. So tint will still be illegal with a $250 ticket in Chicago until the Municipal Code is changed (at least according to my alderman's office).

Answer: NO that is not true. The Illinois Vehicle Code (Chapter 11 specifically) allows Chicago to adopt ordinances in regards to the movement of vehicles and rules of the road. However, tinting is not a moving ordinance but an equipment ordinance (Chapter 12 of the Illinois Vehicle Code) thus Chicago is not exempt from the law. This information came from the Illinois State Police.
Good luck...let us know how it turns out.

Even if the ticket gets overturned in court, it is not worth the hassle. Especially for people that live in the city.

so, is it true that you can only get that $250 ticket if you live in the city? someone like me driving there for a restaurant/bar/club won't be affected?

Why is everyone so worried? Just do it

I installed the 35% all around months ago and I haven't had one issue. Now they can do what they want because it will get dropped in court. If they want to waste time issuing tickets that the court will have to throw out more power to them. I plan to take the TSX in the next week to get done.
