True enough. Didn't see you mentioning 'performance' winter tires, though, in your original post. A Blizzak LM-25 or a Dunlop Winter Sport SP (I think it's called) are considered 'performance' winter tires... but for the common of mortals, we just refer to them as winter tires altogether.

Didn't think I had to mention 'performance' winter tires. I figured if his son was driving a 335 that it went without saying he'd want winter 'performance' tires. For that matter almost everybody in this forum would.

I personally had gone through two sets of all season Continental Extreme Contact running 17's all year long in Chicago weather for over 4 years with my 1gen is300 and loved them. My buddy with his 3 series at the time and 18", introduced me to them. They made my car actually move in winter and did not have tire noise.

You can safely put an H-rated Primacy Alpin PA3 on a 335i, and they are not considered 'performance' winter tires. In fact, the V and W rated winter tires, which are 'performance' winter tires are usually only used on powerful rear-wheel drive coupes and ultra-performance sports sedans. Unless it's the only tire offered in the specific size recommended by the manufacturer, it's kind of useless to put in upwards of $2000 of 'performance' winter tires on a 300 hp, all-wheel-drive car.

They put Gislaved Nordfrost 5's on Evos... and as far as I know they are T-rated winter tires. Keep in mind that you only need the winter tires for stopping power, so unless you plan on going 120 mph in snowy and icy conditions, you do not need a V or W-rated winter tire on an AWD car, especially with all the traction gizmos we have today. A T-rated winter tire is plenty of grip to allow you stop if you drive sensibly, but an H-rated is better. You can go blow your money on V-rated tires, like an LM-25 or a Pilot Alpin PA3... but imho, it's not worth it on an AWD car. They're only needed on our F's and on M3's, because that extra grip is needed to take off from a corner.

Roads are not always icey or snowy in the winter. So... that's it.. I'm done. Enjoy your Veyron.

What are you implying here? Whether or not there is visible snow or ice on the road, you should still be driving sensibly in below and even near-freezing temperatures. Besides, even if you buy 'performance' winter tires, chances are the V-rated tire will wear out twice as fast as the T or H-rated tire and will cost more to boot.

And I didn't buy a Veyron, I ordered a Koenigsegg.

I say you should have bought your son an RX to drive out here. Easier than deciding on which tire to buy. LOL

Just got my weather-tech FloorLiner DigitalFit floor mats. WOW! The ones that I got from Lexus were good but a lot of mess could get through to the carpet. No longer a problem!

Happy Holidays to all!
