Default which springs are best in chicago year round?

hey guys,

i just picked up some rims and i'm looking to order some springs. my question is what springs would look the best on my is350 with 19's, yet wouldn't be a total pain? (ie: potholes, snow and etc) i'm considering tein s-tech, h-tech, eibach pro's for is250 and h&r. keep in mind this is my DD and i put on over 22k+ per year. I just really need some advise from somebody that has lived in this area with all of the weather and road conditions.

thanks,

bryan

If you have inclines as part of your daily/weekly route then anything more than 1.5 will most likely give you problems. In regards to potholes if you drive super careful then you won't have any issues. I'm dropped 2 inches. Now if there is a big snowstorm...that's something else.

Tein Stechs are the way to go. I had them on my IS350 and it was my DD also. No issues in the snow or with our crappy roads. You will be fine

I would suggest to get JIC coils if your willing to spend the money. We have a local who has them on his IS350 and the ride is amazing. With everything else you have done you would really appreciate these.

I wouldn't do springs. Just go for coils so you can adjust them. Check out JIC Magics or Megans if on a budget.

god vikh your car looks amazing. i would really like to do coils but my budget is already blown for the year. so i figured i can atleast get a decent drop with springs this year and when next years budget comes out in the spring i can always get coils. i just don't want to cheapin the look of upgraded rims and have the suspension be stock and look horrible.

so next question, springs for this year or leave it stock in hopes funds open up for coils(not likely)?

that is the way i'm going. i looked back to your old is and my god did that look amazing! love the drop you had. so i'm going to get them and have them installed in the next couple weeks. going saturday to get the rims and tires mounted, so i don't want to wait too long. i know the rims will look weird with the stock height.

thanks again mike! just needed alittle reassurance!

Thanks. Mikes car was sweet! The teins have a nice drop. The H&Rs have a larger drop though, but I have no personal experience. Megan coils aren't too bad. You can get a set new for ~$700. I did the F-Sport springs/shocks and wasn't happy with the drop, so went with coils. You save money in the long run if you go straight to coils so you don't have to pay the extra installation charge and the hassle of selling the springs.

I have S-Tech's and they are great. Not only an aesthetic gain but I also noticed an improvement in handling.
