Default Anyone miss driving a manual trans vehicle?

Does anyone else miss driving a manual trans car? Are you happy with the changes moving more cars to automatic, paddle shifters, ect? I think no matter what they do to improve the automatic trans in today's cars it will never replace the driving experience one gets from connecting with the car.

My point to this Brian is I like hot coffee in the morning

I've never been one to preach that a manual is the only way to go. I've driven manual cars on and off in my life. Bottom line is that they ARE just so much more fun with all the extra involvement. I don't care what anyone says. Yes, they can be more tedious, but much more fun, even if it is fun for that 2%.

The ISF paddle shift was fun b/c it was so easy but it got boring. Although, I did just build and put a deposit down for a 2011 car (not going to tell you now!) which is a manual 6 speed. So I'll be DD'ing it for hopefully a long, long time.

I hear you with the traffic. I used to drive ~ 40k miles a year for work in a manual. At times I hated it with all the stop and go traffic but my commute to the city and little driving I do these days it would be worth it.

My motorcycles are manual technically. So yeah, I miss them alot right about now. January and February are difficult months for bikers in the mid-west. :-(

maybe a computer actuated clutch instead of a torque converter would do the trick...? Using the electronic clutch pedal would be optional. It will retract when not in manual mode.

I've never owned an automatic car... I feel like I'm going to fall asleep at the wheel when I drive auto/dsg/paddle shift.
