Autobahn Events for 2012
The following are events I've found so far taking place at Autobahn 2012. I think it would be fun to piggyback off these events for pseudo Club Lexus Chicago meets or simply just to attend with CL folks.
Please fill free to addd events to this thread, as you become aware of them. There are lots of events held at Autobahn each year by clubs/interest groups/companies/etc. that results in the private track being open to the public. For example last year, GTA (Global Time Attack) came to Autobahn, and they also hosted a car show. Then there are a couple of days each year, where the Autobahn opens its gates to the public, to track their daily driven cars for $25, in the case of "follow-the-leader." You get into groups of 5 and try to keep up with the track instructor who's driving either a CTS-V, C63, IS-F, E55, 370Z, etc.
Lets keept the format to something like this, if you know them:
Date:
Event:
Open to Public:
Cost/Fee:
Misc:
I'll start off by posting a few:
Date: May 11 - 12.
Event: Lexus GS Consumer Ride and Drive
Open to Public: ??
Cost/Fee: ??
Misc: Anyone know about this? A chance to drive the new GS around Autobahn track? Invite List? http://autobahncc.com/Calendar.html
Date: June 9-10
Event: 24 Hours of Lemon
Open to Public: Yes
Cost/Fee: Adult $20 (I think), under 16 = free
Misc: Endurance race for $500 cars. http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/
Date: Jun 11, Aug 6
Event: MVP Track Time
Open to Public: Yes
Cost/Fee: Free for spectators (I think)
Misc: http://www.mvptracktime.com/
Per MVP - Our world of performance automobiles is like never before. Whether your passion is an American V8, Italian V12, German 6 or some other design, even the most prosaic cars can be track worthy.
MVP Track Time offers drivers the opportunity to enjoy their cars and improve their driving prowess, at speed, in a safe, enjoyable environment at track days across North America with out too many draconian rules.
Advanced and Intermediate run group drivers are welcome to bring guests along for rides as long as they meet the age requirements of the track and have a helmet that meets our requirements!

Definitely going for the 24 hours of Lemon.. I have a friend who is participating!
Just as a forewarning.. youre better off on checking out the first half of the race rather than the ending since many cars dont make it

^^ Yeah I've heard about it too, but didn't think I would have the chance to attend one. I am very interested in attending it.
Feff, are you part of the MVP group?

These all look like fun! What do you guys do about insurance? I heard you can call and say youre doing a HPDE or some sort of education thing; some normal insurance companies will allow it.

^^ I just crossed my fingers when I ran there last year....lol. The nice thing about Autobahn is that there aren't many guard rails and a section where there is, it is pretty far away from the track.

So our teams car, a '96 Firebird is coming along great. We have some of the cage already welded in... The car is TOTALLY gutted, its basically a tin can right now. The motor is back in, new clutch, rear end back in.. Yesterday we ran new fuel and brake lines. Got the front spindles to accept a bracket for C5 Z06 brakes. We'll be running the car at Road America end of April to get it tweaked before the Autobahn event.

The price is $500 in nickels.. lol.. which wont pay for even half of the gas we'll burn through in 24 hrs...lol
Its all for fun though!
A pile of the interior after gutting it out!!
