I remember playing horseshoes on the sand bar when I was paddling for Kaneohe canoe club...that was when the club first started and the sand bar was not crowded.
For tako, my friend and I took a 10' long koa stick, put a 2' SS spear at the end, and would go out near Pake Papalei/Kualoa Park (before there was a park) and poke squid. The water was usually about 8 -10' deep and the tako was about that many pounds too.
Now I go to Foodland and have my tako...much easier..LOL!
If you scuba, right outside of Kapapa there's a nice cave loaded with lobster, but beware of Mano and the large green morays, I guess they like lobster too!
Hmmm...maybe I'll see about getting an emblem that says "TAKO" and put it on the tailgate of my Tacoma!
