I'm basically a newbie here too and haven't met anyone yet, other than VIPLX who I work with.
Forums can be a wealth of information, a good place to met great peeps and make new friends/contacts, and learn a lot from other peeps experience.
It can also be a place of drama for some, but for the most part it is all good!
