Just needed to post. Me and my wife have 3 chihuahuas. We found out that the youngest chihuahua, named Chiquita, has a cancerous tumor in her foot. They will need to amputate her leg on Thursday, 11/6/08.
She should be able to recover from the ampuatation in 2-3 weeks but the cancer has spread to her lymphnode system. We have had her from a puppy and she is 3 yrs old. So we will just try to give her quality of life thus far. Chiquita is the brown and white one. Any of you who have pets know how they become a part of your family, like children.
Also, for those who have seen my car and were wondering what the sticker on my back window was for, it is in memory of my first son Cody Kamakaokekoa Nishida, who passed away from cancer in 2003 and was 3 yrs 10 mths old.

Chad...Sorry to hear this... I hope all goes well. I have a 13 yr old Maltese....he was our first "child"....so I know what you mean when you say they are part of the family.
Also, condolenses to your son who passed in 2003. You know he is in a better place....free of pain and suffering. God Bless his spirit and soul...and you family.

Hey Chad -
Sorry I haven't met you yet in person, and sorrier to hear about the loss of your son in 2003. He is definitely with his Creator...absent from the body face to face with the Lord (2Cor 5:6,8). I hope you and the rest of your family have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and believe in him...(Rom 6:8 & 10:9). Then you will all be reunited in the Lord's Day.
I haven't loss a child, but I've loss my dad this year, and my mom & sister many years ago. However, I KNOW I'll see them again.
As for Chiquita, I feel for you as I loss my Rotti 2 yrs ago of old age, I also had to put down one of my Pit Bulls due to cancer, and one of my cats got poisoned a few years ago too.
Like you said, they become family. Our Maltese is 13 yrs and soon enough she'll be going, then our Silky Terrier, and our other 2 dogs and cats (we have a large family aka zoo). I know it's rough, and only time can heal the pain...hang in there my friend.

Hey Chad,
Sorry to hear the unfortunate circumstances with your dog. I lost mine a year ago and was a total wreck for about a week. Non pet owners will never understand that a dog is one of the family.
I lost my dad to cancer a few years back so I know how tough it must have been with your son. I'm positive he's with you on your long treks home from work (and Saturday Night SB). Your blue beauty is actually his car anyway right?

Surgery went smoothly and my wife picked Chiquita up at noon today. She is already standing and walking on 3 legs!
Bad thing is that when they did the amputation they also needed to remove a lymphnode that is near the leg. It is supposed to be the size of a pea but it was more like a grape.
It was sent in for biopsy but it looks as if the cancer is spreading aggressively.
