Jolly Rogers in Kalihi was where Checkers is now (I think). They used to always have classic car events on Friday nights.

Let's not forget Cornet!

haha....all the memories

no one mentioned Kikaida!
there was a coronet in aina haina where chuck e cheese (which used to be showbiz pizza) is now. and tasty freeze in aina haina too.
remember burgerland in market city? they had a big neon burger sign that you could see from the freeway.
one im sure no one will remember...arnie's torture museum that was on kuhio across the street from royal theatre. they had all this real medieval torture equipment..was really cool.

and speaking of star wars...not many remember but before it was at cinerama, it first played at kapiolani theatre. back then, in a lot of theatres you could just stay and see a movie over and over. i think i saw stars about 20 times...what a geek

oh...and how about rollerworld

oh man... when they used to have the holiday mart theater in kailua, they would have the surfing w/hang gliding w/skateboarding films... the smell of burning rope would permeate the air, once my friend dropped a beer bottle and you could hear it roll all the way down to the front (it went between the seats perfectly), another time my OTHER friend dropped the bottle of 151 and i busted open, man those were the days.

Jolly Rogers was, also in Wai'anae. Then turned into Salvatore's then into Beaches... I think I might have missed a couple names that place went through.

Let's not forget the Civic Auditorium where Handsome Johnny Barran, Ripper Collins, The Missing Link....Ohhhhhh...Yeeeaaaaahh and Mr. Francis used to hang out...as well as being the Roller Dome too.
I remember attending the Battle of the Bands there hosted by KPOI. This was where all the High School Rock Groups would challenge each other. Of course I was just a kid then.

I found your source!

I was googling Chief Billy Whitewolf, he was my favorite wrestler. I just found out recently, he was the Shiek Adnan Al-Kaissie. And let's not forget the Wizard, Curtis "the bull" Iaukea.

I remember one of the skating rinks had a huge spaceship hanging from the ceiling and a Starwars mural painted on the wall.

Ah the Islanders. I remember those days.

Remember those mudbogs and tractor pulls at the stadium.

LOL!
This is a cool find Todd!
I wish I was that savvy to find such a source.
My older brothers were in a group that played there. The second guy in that picture Randy Ahlo, he & his family has been Porsche owners from way back then. That's a nice pic I need to forward that to my brother, as Randy got my brother into Porsches.
I think that's the first picture I've seen of "Handsome Johnny Barran" without sun glasses. As for the Bull....most people only saw his back...LOL

Thanks for the link!
