All depends what you are looking to shoot. Canon has the largest selection of lenses. Nikon and Sony are very good cameras as well. As a Canon user, I can only make suggestions on their line. A good starter body would be the XTi. Although its not the newest one, its the entry level camera with a CF card. If you don't mind buying used, you can get a 40D for about $700-$800.
The lenses will all depend on what you're shooting. The 18-55IS is a good entry level all-around lens, the 70-200L is a good zoom lens for about $500, and the 28-135IS is a good walk-around lens with a little longer reach than the 18-55.

If you're looking for faster fps (frames per sec) for rolling shots, panning, aircraft, etc, I'd recommend moving up to the xxD prosumer line (40D, 50D) at about 6.5fps. If money's no object, the ultimate beast is the 1DmkIII (10fps) for very fast shooting and the 1DSmkIII for portraits.

Thanks for the info again guys.
That 50D seem pretty good to me, so i guess i better start saving up already, that damn thing just as the body will cost me a arm and a leg. lol
I guess ill be using it for a while so it should be pretty worth it.

With what Todd mentioned, you also want to get a feel of the camera. How it holds in the hand, weight, and if you feel comfortable navigating in the menus etc...
You can't go wrong with either Canon or Nikon, just a matter of personal taste and $$$$...

Being that MIKU*SC3 is on Maui, I didn't mention the local shops on Oahu. But for those on Oahu, there is Kaimuki Camera, Lighthaus Camera (on Big Island, Maui, and Oahu), and Ritz Camera. Of the 3, I like the expertise and knowledge of Neal at Kaimuki Camera, but he's the most expensive.
I bought most of my gear from Craiglist. This way, you can touchy, feely the equipment before buying and not have to pay retail.
If you're buying online, bhphoto, samyscamera, adorama are a few reputable places. If you see something too cheap, please use resellerratings.com before buying. Lot of these places use bait & switch techniques like "oh you want a battery? $300 + $100 for the box", etc. Don't get ripped off online. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
