Problems with storing car?
Hey everyone. I was planning on staying in Korea for 6 months and the issue of what to do with my car came up. My main concern is that if it's okay to leave the car sitting for 6 months straight? Or should I have someone start the car every now and then? Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated!

I'm in the military and when soldiers get deployed, they are authorized to store their POVs (privately owned vehicles) at a contracted storage facility. IIRC, the employees at the storage facilities are required to start the vehicles routinely, either once or every other month to prevent the vehicle's fluids circulating. These are for 12 months or more deployments and you are only going to be gone for 6 months. Are you storing your vehicle at a storage building or leaving it with family? At the least, disconnect your battery to prevent it from draining the cells.

Try and check the other forums, IS, Maintenance, or Car Chat. I think there are people with that same question, but not sure where. People on the mainland put their cars in storage for the winter, but I don't know about 6months. If not, post up in the Car Chat and see what others say.
The only thing I remember, just like webhed mentioned, was to disconnect the battery. Or have someone start up the car every so often.
