Default Recommendations for best Pho/Vietnamese restaurant on the island?

G/F is religious to vietnamese food and loves pho. Would like some of your guys input.

Already been to Pho Old Saigon on Kuhio, and Pho 97 in Chinatown, but she says it just doesn't satisfy her like the restaurant back home. You guys know of any?

Also need a good thai restaurant around the Waikiki area. Input is appreciated

There's pho 1 its very close to Waikiki; across from Hawaiian Brians Billiards. I'm not too sure of the address tho... as for Thai, I don't think Oahu has any good ones at least none that I have tried.

happy eating!

Now I'm vietnamese, and I honestly think that Pho To Chau on river st. is the best on the island. They give very generous portions for a great price, but the only drawback is the long line they always have. Though I love that place, I've recommended it to a few people and some of them just didn't like it even though it's a favorite among all the vietnamese I know...

I've come to the conclusion that most people base their preference on wherever they first tried pho, thinking that that was how it is supposed to be made........ but..... well I guess it can't be helped if someone thought a crappy bowl of pho was good, but liked it...

See, that's what I mean. I honestly think Cuu Long in pearl kai and Cuu Long 2(which is at the other corner of Pho To Chau) sucks..... but I mean everyone has their own tastes, and if you like it, then you like it.

We had green papaya yesterday and it wasn't bad. Bun thit nuong and com suong FTW. A guy at shokudo sushi restaurant said someone found a cockroach in their pho at Pho 1, which turned the g/f away.

You are right GSE20MT. We walked past Pho To Chau and there was a line. What the ****? We will try both of them. Vietnamese food is the bomb.

Ha Long Pho next to Sagoys is pretty good. It's different than other pho places, kinda more modern and hip.

but then again Pho To Chau owns.

So many pho restaurants, so little time. When we ordered, Vietnamese people took our order. Japanese own a Vietnamese restaurant? What's the world coming to? Back home, Indian people own chinese buffets.

We went out to Cuu Long 2 in Chinatown. It was dericious. Since Pho Tri is closeby, think we're gonna go there tomorrow.

Have not gone to phuket thai. Sounds like a place to try.

Had Pho To Chau today and honestly, the g/f thought it was the best pho she had of any of the restaurants on the entire island. I'm not a fan of pho so I had com suong again and again, it was the best I had of any of the restaurants. Big portions and great price. The wait in the line was not pleasant, but it was worth it. Never had to wait for a pho restaurant before, but glad we did. Almost left to go to cuu long again

Hah, that's nice to hear. As a vietnamese, I honestly think that's how it should be made. Again, the line sucks, but like you mentioned, great portions for a great price. Also, if you become a regular there, the lady will remember exactly what you ordered the last time. Also, if you don't have time, they do take out too. Sometimes they give even more when you get take-out than when you sit there and eat.
