which to choose?
i got the Tein S tech lowering springs, planning on putting it on this weekend.
but some of my friends have been telling me to get Megan Racing LP Series Coilovers, or the tanabe sustec pro 5 just so i dont have to worry about safety checks. should i just stick with the Tein or what?

i would suggest you go coilovers, yes its more expensive since you already have springs (on the side) BUT... you wont like it and you'll eventually get coils OR air, so just skip the springs 'step' and go right for the good stuffs.

It depends what you're trying to accomplish and what your plans are. Most of the guys on here will tell you that coilovers are the only way to go. To a certain extent, they're right. If you want a lower ride height, and you want to make sure that you have the capability of getting the height exactly where you want it, then yes, you should definitely not install the S-Techs and save more for the coilovers.
In my particular case, I weighed out all the options and what was important to me, and H&R springs fit the bill. I wanted to lower the car nicely, but did NOT want to slam it. My wife is the primary driver of our 2IS, and let's just say that I would sleep better at night knowing I had an extra inch or so of clearance. Also, I did not want the stiffer ride that coilovers will typically bring. Then to top it off, my wife and I are expecting a new addition to the family in October, so I didn't want to spend $1k, when I know we've got a bunch of upcoming bills.....baby stuff, hospital visit, etc...
So to just say that coilovers are the answer is not necessarily the case for everybody. It wasn't for me, but it may be for you. All I can suggest is see what makes sense for you and buy once!
