Default Servco Lexus Servicing Questions

hey guys,
I needed some info on how the servicing at lexus goes. Since I was 17 I've been doing all the maintenance on my cars so I'm not familiar with taking the car in to the dealer. Anyway...

So i scheduled an appointment to have my oil changed and to have the excessive brake dust checked out. The lady told me that since I scheduled my appt. at 10am, I was looking at it being done at 4pm.

1. Might be a stupid question. Are they aren't going to charge me for 6 hours of labor?

2. When they check for brake dust, are they just going to see if I have the updated version of the pads?

3. If I do have the old pads, do they replace it for free since it's a tsb or do I gotta pay for everything since the bumper-to-bumper is up?

I would do it myself, but I really don't have the time to do it anytime soon and I need to get this done. This is for my 06 is250 rwd btw.

thanks in advance!

So I need to call them and ask them for the tsb instead? How can I be sure that it wasn't ever changed to the updated ones? I have all the records for the car and it's never had a brake change. Car has 17k miles on it

As for the oil change, maybe i should diy I have the tool already.

put it this way, you clean your rims and only TWO days later their black already? you dont have the low dust pads... you can go 2wks EASY (if theres no rain) with the low dust ones.

and yeah, DIY that way you can buy Royal Purple or Amsoil and be SURE it went in and not in the trunk of a techs car *not saying this has ever happened but why tempt someone right?*

lol. Yea as for the dust. I mean it isn't severe. After 2 weeks my rims are gunmetal. Usually after 2-3 days my rims are somewhat dirty. Way worse than any other car i had. Does this not warrant the tsb?

yes it does, call up servco and schedule an appointment for the brake tsb AND~ make sure you tell them 'no wash car' when you go, all you want is them to install/do is the brake pads

while your there buy the oil filter and the drain plug gasket should be under 10bucks total for both.

Gotcha thanks. Should I find the tsb and print it out. Bring it down there next week? They wash the car too or is it a joke? Sorry very gullible

But yes must buy the filter/drain plug. Last time I worked on one, we used the checkers cup socket, 3 different oil filter wrenches, and 2 strap wrenches. And it still didn't come off. I'm gonna cross my fingers and hope the metal version of the cup socket will work.

as long as that cup socket thingy is TOY640 and not the plastic F cup thingy... that sux

as for the wash, no its no joke, they will wash your car and really you dont want them too...

you can find the brake tsb on the 2IS board FAQ.

Thanks for the advice. Just wish i could get it. Just read the tsb and it said that the tsb was covered for either 48 months or 50,000 miles whichever comes first from vehicle service date. My 4 year service date was up in april i guess i'll cancel that

Might as well try and take it in anyway. They might surprise you since it is TSB.
