Default Whos good at fixing their own SCs in here?

I just recently bought a used SC300 and one of my worst fears is fixing it because it seems really expensive. When I use to own a Chevrolet Cavalier, people in the Cavalier/Sunfire forums usually helps each other out and fix each others car for much cheaper. Im wonderin if many if you guys in these forums help each other out like that?? If so that would be really great

If there's something wrong with your SC and you list it out, I'm pretty sure somebody can help you out and tell you what you need to do.

yeah we do help each other over here. just depends on how close you are to us, how friendly you are, and if we straight up like you or not.

Hehe. I hope I fit in and get accepted. I had good experience dealing with people from other forums for a different car that I use to own.

Ok heres my situation. I finally picked up a used 1 owner clean title 1992 SC300 thats within my budget. So far, after looking through the entire maintenance records, heres what I thinks need to be replaced or performed

1. Tranny Flush
2. Motor / Transmission Mounts
3. Spark Plugs

I asked around for quotes and theyre wayyy out of my budget. I was wondering if some of you guys can possibly help me out. Oh, also I'd be willing to drive anywhere in So Cal. Thanks Alot

#1&3 can be done by yourself or with a friend. tranny flush and spark plug changes are quite simple. i think there are even write ups on here. just did a spark plug change 2 weeks ago.

I did the spark plug change on Thanksgiving day, man was it hard. Here's the write-up I followed, pretty simple just time consuming, i think it took me about 3 hours.

Unhappy

#3. Its almost impossible for me to do this by myself or even with the friends i have, considerin that its 5 hour job. My mechanical skills arent that great.

Here are other thing that Im stressing about:

Even so, after I researched the records, there are much left to be done. Heres kinda like my checklist.

1. Alignment (because it pulls to the right)
2. Transmission Flush (because it shifts hard)
3. Serpentine Belt and Tensioner (recommended by the dealer tech but was declined by owner. belt appears worn and tensioner does get noisey)
4. Motor and Transmission Mounts
5. Water Pump (never replaced in spite of the timing belt and radiator getting replaced)
6. Crank and Cam Seals (I have no idea but it was also recommended by the tech who did the timing belt due to a leakage. I dont see anything severe)
7. Spark Plugs (last replaced at 60k)

Haha just messing. There are way too many less than reputable car shops in the valley. 626/909 is full of them.
