if you ask me i like the night pics of cars in LA downtown too. go out at like 2am in LA downtown. find a main street with few cars there, a nice building, and part the cars along the street or so. incredible shots of the LA downtown.
same thing with rodeo drive or hollywood. i actually kinda like the LAX sign at the airport for pics, but i can't figure out a location to actually park the cars
basically something that people will know it's america, the US. especially this is the "idea" of this photoshoot i think

Whenever you see those VIP shots, you see Japanese themed locations.

My thoughts to toss in for US styling: Hollywood, Glendale and Burbank.
American homes are vastly different in architecture and a shoot outside of one would be nice too. Do this shoot early enough and for a small town like Monrovia on Myrtle, lining the street with Lexi would be sooo American. That feel is why Greenleaf in Whittier is a popular film location.
In most public access areas, shooting pics isn't a problem. The scope of what or how it is used may pose issues where a permit/release is necessary. You don't want to encounter any hassels and sometimes a generic background makes this easy. LMS from that aspect is

man, get a nice damn big home at bhill, oc, sunset, etc.... and that's typical loaded american people. that would be some cool shots
and about the "time"... seriously, you get what you invest.... the pics i took at santana row? i went there at 2am in the morning when there are no cars, clear (earlier it was foggy), etc... during other time of the day youget tons of cars and people. same with downtown shots of course
