Default *** Post Your CA Smog Results ***

I'm making this thread to help fellow CL members in California understand what will and what will not pass a CA Smog Test. Please post your exhaust gas readings and what mods you have done to your car. Also try to include other details such as type of gas, additives, etc.

I had to get my car smogged today and I was unsure of it passing the visual inspection. I have RMM exhaust with custom catback piping with NO resonators. That's not what i was worried about. What made me nervous was the BFI. Technically NOT SMOG LEGAL. The technician passed the BFI pictured below without even a question. So to you California members with exhaust/BFI I would say don't worry about it.

Here are my Results:

As it says above, the car has 148,xxx miles. Oil was changed about 2,000 miles ago along with a cleaned K&N filter. Car was filled to 1/4 tank with Chevron 91 octane gas. I drove the car for about 45 minutes beforehand and kept it running.Needless to say the results were good . . VERY Good. Tech said he has only failed 1 Lexus, but the car wasn't well maintained. He said the guy probably never changed the oil since buying the car.

don't have the smog sheet i got 2 months ago when smogging my gs400, but here's my 2 cents

1) any exhaust, as long as it's cat back (doesn't matter if it has resonators or not, loud or quiet, big or small), it will NOT affect smog. as long as you still have the cats, that's the key. they won't, and shouldn't, pay attention to your exhaust at all
2) intakes are all illegal if you don't have the carb stickers. make it clear though, that doesn't mean it will fail the smog test, for example in this case (and i believe for some other intakes as well), it will still pass smog. however that depends on whether you pass the visual. technically the smog person has to look for stickers or your car fail visual right the way. but if they go "blind" and move on to the next one, you are in luck

I got my 400 smogged last summer, passed all areas without a problem. I had over 290,000 miles on the odometer too!....LoL
I only have Magnaflow Mufflers and resonator delete as the only mods.
