Tire mount and balance

Tire mount and balance
As you guys might know, I had my wheels repaired (still not in yet).
I don't want to go through the Firestone fiasco again, so I'm looking for a tire/rim shop to install my new tires without scratching or destroying the rims.
I'm thinking about Wheel Warehouse (where I bought the wheels), however, they charge an arm and a leg for mount and balance, the last time I asked them they quoted me somewhere in the neighborhood $225 !!! for 4 wheels. <-- No that's not a misprint!
Any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated.

Are you sure about the price at Wheel Warehouse (in Anaheim)? I bought my wheels there about 3 weeks ago and just looked at the invoice when I saw this thread and they charged me $16.50 a wheel for mounting and balancing for a total of $66.
If you decide to go back there, ask for Brett.

I'm assuming that's because you bought wheels there and had tires installed at the same time. I'm just bringing in my own tires and wheels, I think they have a lot more liability in my situation. Or maybe they were just sore because I didn't like there tires and I'm buying my own.

I thought you bought your wheels there. I've been going to them since the 80's and they have always been good to me. I've never tried to bring tires from somewhere else, but they've unmounted tires and/or rebalanced wheels for me in the past (usually for free). I'd have to go back to my old receipts but when I've bought tires from them, the price was the same as when I bought wheels and tires a few weeks ago. I broke one of the lug bolts off once a while back and they even redrilled/replaced the bolt for free (didn't even ask for it, I was expecting to pay but they just told me not to worry about it)

I did nearly 10 years ago, I don't have any invoices. Its just that when I bring in my own tires they seem to jack up the installation prices. It seems that they charge these prices to deter you in brining in your own tires, so you buy there's.

Richard is no longer at the Wheel Warehouse. Ask for Brett and tell him that Yuji sent you. They'll be able to it for $ 25.00 per tire to M&B for wheels and tires NOT purchased there. There is a BIG Car show/ BBQ, DJ, sale going on this weekend. I'll be there with my GS.
Free food, music and get you stuff mounted.

I think wheel and tire size also makes a difference in pricing. Some companies are pretty careful with mounting premium wheels to making sure the lip is not scratched. If you care about them, make sure to not take it to a company that doesn't seem to know the value of your wheels.
