Default Does this seem right?

Hi. So my IS is going in the for 6month/5000 mile service on Wed. and the dealership will have a car for me to use. That is a good thing. (wife and I will go down to Fashion Island and shop a bit) Dealer wants me to fill up the loaner upon returning it. Sounds reasonable I guess but my Lincoln dealer was thrilled to provide me a car AND petrol. Maybe cuz gas is over $3 bills now? Or is just the way it is with Lexus?

Not upset, just curious. Any feed back will be welcome. Thanks. (and the meet yesterday was great!!)

Stuff like that probably varies from dealer to dealer, not just Lexus in general. If you don't bring it back with gas in it, I'm sure they won't charge you or say anything. At least they shouldn't. I think when I got a loaner from Infiniti, I didn't have to pay for gas either.

i guess they treat it like a rental... they expect you to return it full like how it left. if that wasn't the case then i'd siphon all the gas out before i return it hahah.

and 3 bills? damn... that's some hella expensive gas hahah.

Thats the norm for me, although everything else they do is premier, this part sucks. If you dont fill it up, count on getting charged like 4 a gallon on the card.

Thanks. I am tempted to try the "Oh, I didn't put in gas before I got here, I hope that is OK" routine and see if it works. If not, I grab it back and slap some $3 gas in it and save the money that they might charge. This on top of them not mounting my tires correct the day I bought it. Oh well. Still love the car.

I'll let us all know what happens.

Some dealers ask for gas and some don't, just depends on where you go I guess. My friend went to Glendale and they asked for gas but she just did some errands and only used less than a quarter tank so she didn't get charged anything. I wouldn't worry about it if you're just doing some local shopping. You won't be using that much.

I had two loaners from Glendale and I never filled up the tanks. Never got charged either.. the lady told me to fill it up but I got lazy. Was going to pay their price, but they never charged me.

it's a new policy on a lot of dealerships now from what i heard when talking to people working at lexus. yes it's due to the high gas cost

imho it makes sense anyway. you get a loaner that's reasonable to you, and you are supposed to pay for your own gas if you were driving your car anyway

We ask about the gas policy when doing the paperwork. Some dealers have said they charge while others don't. In any case, we typically fill up relative to the miles driven to avoid any confusion.

AeroTect is happy to provide a loaner car and we never charge for the gas.
