Help SC430 Engine light on
I have a 2002 SC430 with less than 20K miles and suddenly the Check Engine Light turns on .
Call the Lexus HQ Hotline and they said that the repair of any engine problems is covered under warranty .
But when I dropped my car at the Tustin Lexus , the service manager asked me to sign a form with a charge of $120 for a so called inspection.
My question is , when they fix the problems, should I pay that charge ?
ANybody knows what can be the problems with the Check Engine Light on ?
I have make sure the gas cap is tight , but the light is still on
Thank you

if u want a free check. Go to ur local autozone or auto place, they gave my bro a free check engine light check. Whenever there is a check engine light (CEL) on, there are different codes that tell you wut is wrong and where. Go to the autozone, find the code, and either search on the internet on wut it may be, and fix it urself or take it to a lexus maintenance place. GL.

Yes, my vehicle has been in service past 48 months, I know I am out of basic warranty , but I thought the Engine Light pertains to the engine, which is still covered for 72 months or 70K miles ???

You are right , Tustin Lexus give me a quote for $460 to replace a defective Oxygen Sensor .
Is this reasonable ?
The O2 sensor is not covered under the 72 months engine warranty ??
Anyone have the same experience ?
Thanks again

It depends on what the local market will bear. The repair cost seems reasonable for California.
The $460 includes the $120 diagnostic fee, I would hope.
Lexus will do the sensor replacement correctly, the first time, and resolve your situation with the correct parts.
Check the "Emission Warranty Parts" listings in the owners manual. This may indicate the sensor is an EFI component or a component of the air/fuel ratio feedback control system. In California, this may just be covered.
