Lawrys in La Cienaga is ok, atomosphere and setting inside is nice. Best thing is to have a big party and get your own room. Another bad thing is driving there with your fixed up car since the roads in that area sucks and you know those Valets. Other resturants in that area are Stinking Rose and ********.

I suggest Castaway in Burbank for Ballers/Players on a budget, nice hillside view on top of the hill overlooking Burbank and not expensive as the pre-mentioned steak houses.

I have plenty of time to go out now that I don't work in car sales anymore.

For high roller steak I prefer Saddle Peak Lodge in Malibu and Pacific Dining Car by downtown LA (prefer OG one to newer one in Santa Monica).

We'd gone to the Roy's in Summerlin, Las Vegas, that was a big let down. The desire to try the one in Newport hasn't been a thought. It was soo dark, one would need a flashlight.

Maggiano's at SCP is good and isn't arm/leg expensive.

Thumbs up

http://www.hillstone.com/ (Click on the Houston's name)
One of my favorites is Houston's Steak House. I would rate their steaks some of the best around. You can find a Houston's all over So Cal, Santa Monica, Century City, Manhattan Beach, Irvine, and Pasadena. My home is the Pasadena location, with its hushed lighting, and rich woods, makes for a great evening for those that enjoy a great steak. They have a great wine selection, and also cater to those who delight with the wonders of the Sea.

Price wise, you're looking for your date to for two, to cost you at least $80-$100
(appetizer, drinks, entree, drinks, dessert)

Another must visit is up in Old Town Pasadena, one of my favorite steakhouse/breweries, Gordon Biersch. They have quite possibly the best beers I have ever tasted, and a great menu to go along with it. Their Gorgonzola Ribeye is mouthwatering when delivered to you med rare! Drinks wise, make sure you have a Golden Export, its a light creamy lager, that will leave you wanting another! The Marzen (A Bavarian Lager) really compliments the steak, with a sweet finish and subtle aroma sits well with the rest of your meal.

Price wise, you're looking for your date for two, to cost you at least $60-$100
(drinks, appetizer, drinks, entree, drinks, dessert, and quite possibly more drinks)

Oh yeah, for high roller sushi Nobu Matsuhisa is the master. Nobu in Malibu and Las Vegas and Matsuhisa on La Cienega.

Dinner bill with saki has come to $150 for 2 people.

Places i've been to for friend's bday dinner and amount spent. Price would be cheaper if you dont plan on ordering a few bottles of wine. lol

Pacific Dining Car is expensive, small portion and not tasty. lol WHY did you recommend that liz? **over $900 for about 12 people

Asia De Cube is nice w/ the outdoor seating. You can hear the music from Skybar i belive. Food was tasty. Their Bday cake is awesome. **$600 for 8 people

Geisha House has a nice atmosphere. Pretty packed and food is not bad.
**$650 or so for about 14-15 people. Great place to hang around with friends.

Falcon in hollywood - Food was awesome. Outdoor seating. Avoid tuesdays if you dont want to be "crammed in a sea of homosexuals looking to party"
http://losangeles.citysearch.com/pro...ca/falcon.html
**$800 or so for 15-16 people

Talking

I always take the folks to PDC for Easter or Xmas and I think it's pretty good. I can never finish off the steaks so I don't know why you think the portions are small?

Asia de Cuba is good, but that's what I call small portions at that place. lol

Geisha House sucks, only good for star sightings. It's way overpriced and the food is terrible. Same at Koi on La Cienega.

Falcon is okay, I know the head chef for that chain of restaurants. He also overseas Cobras and Matadors. Yeah Tuesday nights is a gay club called "Beige" which has been going on for years. I know the promoter for that place too and they play decent house music. We just go and dance our asses off, while sighing at the the pointless situation of being surrounded by hot looking sweaty guys. lol If you're homophobic I wouldn't recommend it.

info on this horse back riding? Me and my girlfriends 1 year at the end of the month and looking for something to do.

Everyone mentions Orange Hill, but theres also Summit House in Fullerton/Brea with a nice view of the area. Comprable to Orange Hilll but better IMO.

Gen Kai in Dana Point for sushi (about 1-2 miles down PCH from Salt Creek) casual but the food is very fresh and presentation is excellent!

Porterhouse Bistro is also quite good. (www.porterhousebistro.com)
Katsuya is the latest hot spot restaurant. (http://www.sbeent.com/katsuya/)
Luna Park is good for drinks. Their food is okay, just not great. But their goat cheese fondue and their mojitos are awesome! (http://www.lunaparkla.com/)
Dakota Restaurant (http://www.dakota-restaurant.com/) located inside the Theodore hotel.
Dolce (http://www.dolceenoteca.com/) owned by Ashton Kutcher. Haven't been though so no comment.
Madre's (http://www.madresrestaurant.com/) owned by JLo. The food is good! The atmosphere is a rustic french inspired atmosphere.
Ruth's Chris Steakhouse (http://www.ruthschris.com/)
The Lobster (http://www.thelobster.com/) located at the Santa Monica pier. The food is good and the atmosphere is nice. A bit packed, but worth it.

Default The Patina Group

They make great restaurants throughout SoCal.

The most impressive is, or course, PATINA, located at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Downtown L.A.

I highly recommend making reservations for the Chef's Table, which is a very impressive six course meal served with six different wines in a three-hour dining event. It's $120 a person (not including the wine) but worth every penny. Also, they have seasonal menus: Wild Game season is on, so you can try some of their venison chops or Scottish grouse...

MMMM!!! GAME!!! ***drool***

Porterhouse Bistro sucks. They use an extreme season dry rub to mask the low quality steak.
Dolce sucks also but I saw Dave Grolsh from Foo Fighters in the next booth.

I've heard good things about Katsuya and plan on going there next week.

Patina restaurants are awesome.

Well...I went to CUT last night. To be honest, my gf and I were disappointed. The decor is meant to be modern/chic. Which it is. But at the same time, as I was dining there...it felt more like "cafeteria style" dining. CUT is situated in one room of the Beverly Hills hotel. As you can imagine, the noise level in the room is well....undesireable. The height of the room helps keep the noise level down, but w/ the lack of any drapes or walls...sound just echoes all over the place.

Our table was situated really close to the next table. This is similar to how Mastros (in Bev Hills) has their tables as well, but again...no drapes/walls = excessive noise.

Price is similar to Mastros, so that isn't much of a factor.

We ordered the Bone-In-Filet to have a direct comparison to Mastros. The meat itself was quite good, but the meat was much more fattier. With Mastros, you get a more natural meat. At CUT, they try to get you to try a sauce w/ their steak. The sauces are more exotic sauces (Wolfgang Puck influence), ranging from a house steak sauce w/ a flair, to a South American chimichurri. I ordered the chimichurri...and while it was not bad. It didn't "Wow" me.

At Mastros, you get a large basket of various types of bread.

At CUT, you get pencil breadsticks. Occasionally, you have a server walk by w/ a tray of bread. He asks you which you would like...and you end up w/ 2 pieces of bread to try.

VOSS water was $7/bottle.

Needless to say, we weren't pleased w/ CUT. It just isn't worth the money for what you are actually getting.
