Are you sure that speeders can only drive 3mph over the posted speed limit??

80% of the people in cali drive 10mph + on the highway.

damn these new laws suck... and i don't understand the cell phone law. glad to have bluetooth. =)

and $1k for a carpool lane violation? wtf is that? i also wonder how strict they enforce the speed limit. most people here on miramar rd/mira mesa blvd. drive around 15+ more than speed limit. and we have retarded straightaways where the limit is 35...

Cops CAN pull you over at 3 mph over the limit. Will they waste their time doing so? Not really. Some will, but not really...

Thanks for sharing, however the cell phone ban doesn't go into effect until 7/1/08 AND it isn't a complete ban. It only requires you to use a hands-free headset when using cell phones while driving. I don't see where the carpool fine is tripled to $1069.

most cops i have talked to say they usually won't pull people over unless they were going 10+ mph over and will always give a ticket for those going 15+ mph over. Of course this all depends on environment ie. school zone and such.

hefty fines. but then again im glad they are raising the fines especially for car pool violators. The last time i was in traffic school some guy was there for car pool violation. i drive for my job and spend almost 90 percent of my driving for work, through city, freeway, traffic, no traffic, good roads, bad roads, etc. I encounter so many bad drivers or people who dont follow the traffic laws, maybe biger fines are wats necessary.

Glad I'm in Mexico...where laws above exist, but are rarely enforced and when they are, only because the police officer needs to supplement their salary.

That's crazy! I got a ticket 2 years ago going 5 miles over the speed limit in Corona. I don't think I want to test the 3 mph over water.

As of 1/1/07...in Hawaii....15 mph over the speed limit gets your license suspended for 2 years....OUCH!
