Default A Question for SoCal Members

I will be moving to the San Luis Obispo area soon. I realize that it is on the central coast of California. Would you consider that area part of SoCal or NorCal? Thanks.

It's more SoCal than NoCal, but no more SoCal than San Diego...

That area, along with Monterey, Big Sur, and Santa Cruz, considers itself the Central Coast.

Auto Club of Southern California's territory goes as far north as San Luis Obispo. Anything north of that is CSAA (California State Automobile Association) or AAA NorCal's territory.

If you were to ask me. SLO is Central California.

SLO is central california because no one wants to clame them. LoL. Its a very nice area, but damn if i could ever live up there. Reason i say this was because the wifey went to school at CalPoly SLO. I used to be there ALL the time. At one point i was up there almost every weekend. Your seriously in the middle on no where, in the SLO and neighboring cities your fine. But outside of that all you got is farm land or ocean (but mostly farmland). But the area is very peaceful, unless your near the school where all the college kids are. ALOT of lil hotties all over, i think the wifey side it was like 2 to 1 female to male ratio.

I view it as central. The folks in that area probably wouldn't want to be associated as a So. cal area...that term largely groups the lousy, congested, road-rage, traffic jam, smog infested, rude drivers with the LA area.

I'd say socal, but thats would be a long drive. Any particular reasons why you're moving there?

I am tired of the Northeast winters and the high real estate taxes. And yes, California taxes are a third lower than what I pay here in the Empire State.
