Default Moving to Temecula

Hey everyone,

I'm moving from the Westwood area of LA to Temecula this summer and was wondering who's out there. Also, what is it like out there? What things are there to do? What's the community like? Any interesting facts/side notes/things I should know? Thanks!

I almost bought a house in Temecula, but decided that I needed "the city life" for now. I'm single with no kids (that I'm aware of); how about you?

Temecula is very hot in the summer and cool in the winter. It's becoming overdeveloped, so there is a lot of residential and business construction. Communities in Temecula are typically filled with younger families and retirees. It's harder to find single people in Temecula compared to more urban areas.

Temecula is known for wine making, gambling, and golf. You'll find these things are geared for an older generation, but it's very welcoming to everyone. I like going to Temecula for wine tastings and pretty good dining in some places. Pechanga does supply some nightlife with a good but touristy club. Golfing ranges are easy to find, and are cheaper than ones you'll find in Orange or San Diego counties.

One thing to consider: traffic is HORRIBLE, especially when going to the 91 freeway interchange. I once drove from Anaheim to Temecula during rush hour traffic, and it took over two hours for a 50 mile drive!! Make sure you have a motorcycle handy.

Good luck! When't the housewarming party? Keep in touch with me if you want to go wine tasting...

Temecula is more organized than Los Angeles (IMO) and the city is growing very fast! Lots of developments. You can find shops within minutes. You name anything, Temecula has it.

You should see some young single guys (late 20s or early 30s) driving around in an expensive fancy cars & living in a 4-5 bedrooms house.

Some of them drive 4X4 with big tires (Chevys, Ford, Hummer) & others drive brand spanking new Bimmers/Mercedes. Most of those guys are dealers in the casinos (Pechanga & Pala).

I know all of these because my cousin lives in Temecula & he is one of the High Limit table game dealers in Pechanga casino.

Thanks for the info. I myself am fresh out of college going to be working at Abbott Vascular (formerly Guidant). So I guess the single life will be a bit lacking in Temecula.

One question that's on my mind though is the housing market. Obviously, prices are going to drop, but how much? I was offered what I originally thought was a great price on a home ($392K, 2400 sq ft, 5 bd, 3ba, new home to be finished building by September in Harveston)...but some people are telling me that the housing market will continue to drop even more. The price right now for a 2400sq ft home is around the mid 400's. But some are expecting the price to go back down to 2002 levels (which would put the 2400sq ft homes at the mid 300K). Any thoughts?

I live In Murrieta, actually right near the line that splits Murrieta and Temecula. I've been here since 2000. I have to agree with all the statments here so far.

I myself am single with a 5 bedroom house, but all of the people I know in my area are married.

Are you looking for a house? how about a 1 bedroom condo with garage? its about 5 minutes from Guidant...

I live in Temecula, but moving into a house in Murrieta this month. Pretty much the above statements are true, the area is kind of geared towards families or older couples looking to settle down. Nice community, lots of traffic and still growing. Even though there really isn't a night life, we're in between San Diego or LA, so not too far of a drive to either location.

I'm off Rancho Cal.......

I love living there......I moved out to the high desert and moved back 1 year later.

There is tons of stuff to do. But there is a large population of married family commuter type people.

Tem isn't all that hotter than any other area of SoCal minus the beach areas...... If your into off road MX riding, there are tons of tracks. I live down the street from Ryan Hughes, and there are most of the pros in the area.

Traffic isn't bad unless you are going to commute somewhere. It's a heluva lot better than OC or LA thats for damn sure.......

The RE market is slow, as is everywhere else.....Lots of inventory right now.

OA I wouldn't want to move anywhere else right now in SoCal.......

What position/major did you at Abbott Vascular?

I'm thinking about working there so when a position opens up that suits me. I have a B.S. in bio.

Looks pretty nice. How much is it? (judging by the post, I'm going to assume you're not Lalaine and Julius Castillo).

And finally: Is there a big difference between Murrieta and Temecula?

I got a process development/quality engineer position at Abbott Vascular. They haven't told me the exact details yet since my start date isn't til the end of July. Also, I have (will get...assuming I pass all my classes this quarter ) a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.

The condo actually belongs to my brother Elmer but Julius is his realtor that is listing it for him.. My brother is aksink $230k furnished. Abbott Vascular is about 5-10 minutes away.

Please call Julius @ 858 722-1165 for questions about the place.. or maybe they can help you find something else..

I hope you can find a place that you like. PM me if you have any questions about the area.
