We're thinking of a short day trip and want to play/gamble at one of the local San Diego casino's...which would you suggest? Mostly machine play not table games.

where are you coming from? for example, if you're coming from Mission Valley then i believe Sycuan is the closest? correct me if i'm wrong....

i've been to Barona recently and think that's the best looking Vegas-style one in SD imho.

or you can go to Viejas and shop.... i personally like the Barona buffet as well, ate there on father's day and loved it

Out of the three mentioned, Barona is the most popular one out of the bunch and IMO, the nicest one too.

I like Pechanga just because of it's proximity to Temecula Wine Valley...

Balrona sounds good..

Food wise...how would Balrona compare to some of the Vegas casinos? I don't have much reference except for my experiences in Vegas. The last time were in an Indian casino was Chumash about 8 years ago. Much has changed...

baronas is pretty good, viejas is better IMO but its a bit of a drive.

the buffet at barona sucks, they have a wide variety but the quality's there not. I never tried the steakhouse there though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Barona's completely dry (no alcohol)?

Went to Pala once, I was surprised at how "country" it was, until I saw a few very very very small Indian casinos dotting the road further inland. It made Pala seem like Vegas.

are you from San Diego?
if you don't want to drive far, then viejas, but the best is Pachanga imo.

If SD isn't what you're looking for, there's always San Manuel and Morongo and the rest of the casinos in the Coachella Valley.
