In South OC...Pulled over for riding dirty?!
First off, I would like to say that I was EXTREMELY lucky that I got let off and the cop was very nice after the fact so here were the details:
Last Thursday, I was hanging out with my coworkers at a bar near our workplace. We had two shots and I had 2 brewskis in the span of 2 hours(I'm 6 ft 220lbs). It was around 11pm and was tired and so I felt totally fine so I decided to drive home. Well, I am driving fine...no speeding or swerving...and there a T in the road with a traffic light so I make a left (following a car right in front of me). A cop was stopped at the light going straight. As soon as he sees me, he bust a U-turn and get up behind me and flashes his lights. (My car is a tastefully modded '01 LS430...Eric's "ATSOU" old car). So I thought why is he pulling me over? He comes up to my car and ask for my DL and Registration and then asks me if I have DRUGS on me or in the car. I told him that I don't do drugs but I did have a few beers. He told me to get out of the car and he searched me and then escorted me into his patrol car.
So I sat in the backseat while he and his partner went thru my car. I mean they WENT thru every possible inch to where all of my belongings(I have 20 CDs and every single one of them the CD's were out of its jacket)were on the floor when I picked it up the next day. After they went thru the car, he came back and asked me where did I go and where I was going. I told him that I had to pick up a girl I am dating at the another bar to take her home and I was on my way home myself. So, he told me if I had anyone to call to pick me up and I did. I first tried to call the girl but she was in bad shape so I called my friend instead. As we were waiting, the cop was telling me that I was extremely lucky that he didn't drag me in , and then told me that he pulled me over because I have no front license plate. My buddy grabbed me, moved my car, and took me back to his place to crash till the next day.
What did I learn? Cab, Front plate, and don't drink at all when you are driving ESPECIALLY with a modded car.

that happened to me last year. had a few beers, got pulled over. threw me in the backseat while the cop searched my car for drugs n whatnot. threw me my cell and told me to call a friend to pick me up. luckily my friend picked up at 1am and came n picked up my car n drove me home. whew! he didn't give me a breathelizer test tho...

they have to get you to agree, but if you don't agree, they have the right to impound the car for potential illegal modifications. either way you might just as well let them search.
bottom line, never ever drink and drive. that's such a wrong doing to begin with. imho it doesn't matter if the cops are good or bad or if your car is modded or not. it's illegal as long as you are over limit.
i think the cops were really nice already telling you to have someone pick you up. and about modded car, well, we are always at stake.

Only in OC will they ask you if you have "drugs" right after license and registration.
I honestly detest OC cops. Last week, I was in traffic for 35 minutes at 9:30PM on a saturday on Imperial Hwy on the way to a friend's bbq in Brea only to find out that it was due to a sobriety checkpoint.
So violating.......

yup. Legally u don't even have to roll down the window all the way. Just enough to hand ur license and reg back and worth and be able to hear and talk to the officer easily (so like 4"s down). But of course this will make the officers think of u as a ***** and in return they will be a ***** to u. If u do the windows thing they really have no reason to search ur car either cause it's not probable cause. But if u really have nothing to hide u might as well be as nice as u can and just the officers search ur car since they wont find anything.
