yea, city hall has a small checklist of what you need.

If you're going for sole proprietor. I forgot which order you should handle it. But you will need to Goto the board of equalization to file for your sellers permit.

Goto city hall and file for a Ficticious name statement.
You will need to publish that name in a newspaper ad (city hall should have a list of newspapers where they will publish it)
File for your business license. (city hall depends on which location you will have your business at.)

Apply for an Employeer Identification Number. (you can probabaly do this online)

I forgot what else you might need. You should go ask a clerk at city hall to get the checklist.

Yeah, you have to go to city hall. You need to get a business license and then you need to get a resale permit. City hall will direct you to the nearest office to get that.

Also FYI, most wholesale/resale and as far as I know all manufacturers will want a physical store front before they will open an account with you. Manufacturers will most likely come down in person to see the facility.
