If you're in OC, Silver Creek Nursery in Irvine is pretty good.

if you're in the sgv, san gabriel nursery on san gabriel blvd (mile south of las tunas) is one of the best..!

I dont have a hook up on plants, but I suggest buying plants that are indigenous to our So Cal chapparel region. Cacti, desert plants, palms and any other drought resistant plants will be easier to maintain, require less water, and can look really good We are in a drought.
