lol, Henry.

I'm not sure how much you already know about Palmdale, but if you're going to be working out there, I'm guessing your company has something to do with aerospace or defense...
Palmdale is basically a desert with tracts of homes spread out. It is in the very northern reach of Los Angeles County, along with the Lancaster area. The area has had steady growth in the past 20-30 years, with booming growth in the last 10 or so, due to the much cheaper home prices (you get a lot more land for your buck than in LA city). It's not exactly a hip area at all, just that homes are cheap and you can get 50,000 square feet of home/land for the same price as a home in LA city that's 9,000 square feet. It is considered "quite a drive" from Palmdale to Downtown LA or Hollywood. With no traffic, it's about an hour, but in rush hour, it's easily 2+ hours each way. Other than that, it's basically a rural/suburb in the desert.

Here bro, let me give you the info about Palmdale, well, since I live here and all.
Weather: dry heat in the summer (better than the SF Valley's humidity) and cold in the winter (snows once in a while about an inch of it for a couple of days)
Real Estate: lots of square feet for the dollar spent...lots of new properties to choose from if you're in the market.
Culture: there's a Playhouse up here...nothing like Broadway or the Opera House in downtown LA. There's a few "festivals" as well depending on season.
Transportation: Metro (train) and bus are the other alternatives if you don't want to drive to work (that's if you work in the greater Los Angeles area). BTW, I work in downtown LA...it takes me an hour and fifteen to get from my house to the financial district. one way. Also, the airport just opened for commercial travel to San Francisco and more destinations coming. Oh yeah, I also heard (not sure if true) but there's suppose to be a train that takes you to Vegas and back. Nice go to Vegas come back sloshed w/o the risk of getting caught or dying on the road.
Anyway.. PM me if you want or need more info about the place, it ain't that bad.

I am flying out for an onsite interview next week. The homes look newer and fair priced. I am staying an extra day since there are no fights leaving in the afternoon. They are going to give me a tour as well. The job is in the aerospace industry at the plant there.

Thanks for the info
