Sky Diving in SoCal...

First 2 jumps tandem and the 3rd solo with an instructor heading to Earth by your side. After the 3rd you can begin jumping solo without an instructor.
The scariest part of the whole experience was not the actual flying to 15K feet or when they open the doors and count 3-2-1 and all of the sudden all you see is the plane going bye-bye, it's the instructional video that you have to watch where almost every sentence it says that there is no such thing as a perfect jump
Aside from that, it's not like a rollercoaster ride when plunge you can't catch your breath. You can breathe perfectly fine. You can experience the speed of the wind you'll be feeling when skydiving by sticking your arm out of the sunroof at 120mph because that is the terminal velocity you'll reach when falling.
Overall, everyone should do it at least once in their life

I just found out that there is a training couse in Lake Elsinore: Sky Dive Lake Elsinore.
Much closer to home (about an hour away), and you can either do a tandem jump (15 minute prep course, then you jump attached to a professional) for $200, or a solo jump (six hour class, then you jump with your own parachute, guided by a professional) for $330.
I think I just might make it a whole day thing and do the Solo jump...

I dived at Perris. It was about 200 something for the video and dive. I hate heights, but after sitting through the video of Mandy Moore and a 90 year old grandmother jumping, I had to jump. (It was for a friend's B-day idea).
I was the first to jump, not as scary as you would think... 1 second of that rollercoaster stomach feeling, and that's about it... smooth sailing.
Treat yourself, get the DVD video done, might as well to prove to everyone that you did jump out... or in the unlikely chance that the shoot fails and you fall to your death, at least you can have your friend's add the footage to the next Faces of death or something.

I did my first time at Lake Elsinore, the only reason being is that they allow you to do an AFF Level 1 for your first time. Most places (Santa Barbara including) make you do a tandem your first time.
Lake Elsinore is good, if you're on a budget as I think its cheaper than anywhere else, but the view sucks. Its just all dirt. Places like Santa Barbara or San Diego are much nicer, you can see the mountains, the ocean, all at once.
Are you planning on doing a tandem or level 1?
Anyone down for a CL Skydiving meet?

CL skydiving meet? If we get a group together, that would be AWESOME!!!
Drinking absinthe with a 60 year old midget while hiking the Grand Canyons is craziness (that was a fun vacation).
Skydiving is nothing but a test of courage and reason...
