I know there have been sooooo many exhaust shop requests...but ive called all of them, and none...not even speedway muffler does Mandrel pipe work.

Anyone have a shop that Does mandrel work? ive called about 15 shops in my area, and none do it.

i would like a shop close to the IE cuz thats where i now live, but i wouldnt mind driving a few hours away to get some real quality mandrel work.

Try Mike's muffler in El Monte. They don't have a mandrel bender on the spot of course, but they weld mandrel bent pieces together to match the oem exhaust.

look up the original valley muffler i think in el monte....theres a couple now.....plus i know theres a shop somewhere around LA that does it cant remember the name. there has to be someone who can do it around here

for my 1gs...because eventually im going to go turbo. and since im going to buy an exhaust anyway, i might as well get some quality work and pay a little more and be happy. ohhh wait should i still pm you? ill do it anyway

many shops have said its useless, not worth it unless its a race car, but i like to buy quality stuff, even if i have to pay more. i got a quote for the exhaust and hes only charging 300...which is very little compared to the other shops that would have to order the mandrel pieces and weld them together, which quoted me at 550 to 600!

ill also give valley muffler a call and see if they have the bender. that shop in bakersfield has 3! mandrel benders...pretty crazy considering 98% of shops have none.

i've been to mike's muffler a lot
they do have a bender; not sure if it's mandrel..?
he's done a lot of custom work before for me on my previous cars.
really nice guy to work with too...!

Yea they have a regular bender, but not mandrel. Reason why most shops don't have them is because they are so expensive. Welding mandrel bent pieces together will yield the same effect.
Mike is a nice guy as I have been to him a few times already. One time my tip hit a curb and the welded hanger part broke off. I took it back to him and he didn't charge to fix it because he remembered I did the work there several months before.

Go turbo first, then get your exhaust. Most turbo set ups benefit with large diameter piping. You will loose performance if you put that big of a pipe on your car right now.

well i was gonna do the same setup..the 2.25 inch piping. its 50 dollars more then a regular non mandrel bent setup... i mean why not

I beleive A-1 muffler in Santa Ana does mandrel bends. They do a lot of custom exhaust work & have tons of stainless steel in all diameters. I've never had them do any work for me cuz I'm a cheap bastard. But I'm almost positive they have a mandrel bender on-site.
