while yes i like tacos from those trucks also, HOWEVER, the law while may be a bit overbearing and may not be that fair, it might be necessary. Businesses that do everything they are supposed to i.e. meaning getting a health permit, a buisness permit, passing building inspections, making sure their facilities are ADA (americans with disability act) compliant, are up to city and municipal building codes, have the right fire ansul systems, have a evacuation plan, pay workers comp, etc are doing all of this and spending a lot of $$$ to do it, why should people who run taco trucks get around this and not expect to be cited? Im not saying that all taco trucks dont follow rules and regulations, but many do not, the same could be said for those vendors who sell fruit, ice cream, corn, juice, etc on the street, many of those people also dont have the right permits and not follwing rules. Why should legimitate businesses be forced to lose business beacuse of vendors like this? i think the law should be revised and stricter regualting put in place.

If a restaurant is doing the right thing and serving up great food, and top notch service, then there is no worries that customers might turn to the trucks.

Because why would they give up everything inside, just to stand next to the street in the elements? We all know why...

That is why you only here the restaurants that are already suffering, crying about this, since the taco trucks (which have been there for years btw) seem to be the most convenient scapegoat to slumping sales...

Downward spending cycle in the economy, no way! It has to be the mom&pop taco trucks! I knew it was an easy answer to our crisis!

I've eaten from too many. They're very convenient. That being said...

Your friend's mom is probably the minority that actually maintains the health codes, truck maintenance, etc. The MAJORITY don't. I've seen both well maintained and poorly maintained trucks. The difference is very visible.

Now if everyone maintained their trucks, stuck to health codes, paid city taxes and followed the law, i would have no problem with those trucks at all. Like i said, they are very convenient.

Weren't they going after the hot dog cart vendor guys too? IMO, all this bickering is going to increase as the economy goes further into the crapper. it's the "If I can't feed myself, I'll just steal the little kid's lunch money" bullying tactic BS.

BTW, nothing like a good taco de la cabeza if you can find it. Cheek meat RULES forever.

I used to go to FIDM and lived in Highland Park so taco trucks were a regular food staple for me back in the day.......all this taco talk is making me crave them now. lol

I'm thinking it might be mini-meet time at one of the better taco truck locations. Yum.
