Default What positive things are you starting to see in light of high gas prices?

If there's a few "positive" things that I've noticed, is that...

1) There are now much less long commutes and vehicles on the freeways (Rush hour isn't even so bad anymore)

2) Lesser and lesser Trucks and SUV's on the road, Therefore we can be alot more safer in collisions when it comes to accidents.

3) Gas stations are becoming less crowded whenever you fill up.

4) More and more people are realizing the importance of having "Green" cars.

5) The higher these gas prices get, they more likely people will find alternate sources of energy and also, these oil companies might eventually destroy demand for oil, up to the point where not enough people will be needing it anymore.

6) The less you drive your car, the less wear and tear on it.

Anymore positives that you folks may have noticed?

I'm also starting to see alot more motorcycle riders on the freeways/streets as well. Also, I noticed that motorcycle sales have jumped substantially (Although not too much, since not everyone can ride a motorcycle).

I've been wanting to invest in the stock markets on oil companies, but their stocks are just too expensive.

You can definitely invest in mutual funds. That way you're not going to be tied to a particular company since the economy is extremely volatile right now.

More biking, walking, Less driving = Less fat people I have to look at!

You guys forgot about the cleaner air, less reliance on foreign oil, and reduction in global warming. ;]

I'm long oil /w my options...so my hedge against gas prices is working out...I've made enough money to cover a couple years of gas in the past couple of weeks....hopefully oil will peak around 150-155/barrell...

That might be the case during the weekends but people still have to drive to and from work during the week.

Personally, I stopped hanging out with my friends 10-20 miles away unless its something really worthy of my time
